DSP Success Coach Overview Requisition Number: 5349 Date Posted: 5/7/2025 Location: Training Center Address: 1915 Lucas Avenue Extension City: Cottekill Category: Administrative and Support Description We are seeking someone creative and energetic person to join our Staff Development Team as a DSP Success Coach! The DSP Success Coach is responsible for assisting newly hired DSPs to succeed in their initial months of employment, providing individualized, person-centered skills training, support and coaching to them in classrooms and OTJ. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: + Reviewing orientation materials with Residential and Day Hab DSPs to ensure understanding of electronic systems, on line trainings, policies, procedures, work schedule, etc. + Assisting with teaching Orientation classes. + Being available during the new staff’s regular work schedule to provide on the-job-skill instruction, training, and in the 23 OPWDD Core Competencies and the OPWDD Code of Ethics + Understanding and working within the guidelines of the NYS JC and OPWDD regulations. + Regularly communicating with new staff and their supervisors in a supportive manner + Serving as liaison between Staff Development and program sites to determine best training materials and practices + Conducting observations of new staff, and sitting in on debriefings and coaching sessions to provide feedback. + Ensuring staff are proficient in technology use and are trained to meet high quality documentation requirements. + Help identify staff who are at risk of leaving and guide them to HR for supports as needed, guiding them to overcome personal and professional obstacles. + Assist in recruiting and guide DSPs through the NADSP credentialing program (Success Coach must have or be working towards a NDASP credential to qualify for this position) The territory for this Success Coach covers New Paltz and surrounding areas, including Highland, Clintondale, and Gardiner; and our southern tier, including Stone Ridge, Kerhonkson, and Ellenville. HOURS: 40/Monday through Sunday/must be flexible based on needs of position STARTING SALARY: $ 20.13 to $ 23.46 per hour Minimum Requirements + Bachelor’s Degree and 2 year’s working experience with the I/DD population or DSP certification; OR + Associate’s Degree and 3 year’s working experience with the I/DD population or DSP certification; OR + High School Diploma, 4 year’s working experience with the I/DD population and DSP certification. + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word & Outlook and electronic record systems required. + Excellent verbal & written communication and customer services skills required. + Must be able to manage time effectively including the ability to multitask. + Must be knowledgeable in approaches working with people with a variety of diagnosis’ who may have learning, behavioral and/or health challenges. + Must be able to work well with teams and independently. + Valid driver’s license that meets the criteria of the agency’s insurance policy. + Working knowledge of the NYS Justice Center and the OPWDD regulations a plus. + Supervisory experience a plus.
