Job Description:
Responsible for loading, unloading, and driving of delivery trucks in a safe manner while following all food safety protocols.
Duties and responsibilities:
Safely operate forklift to load and unload trucksSafely operate truck in accordance with all lawsEnsure accurate record keeping of items loaded and cleaning performedAdhere to all current SOP’s, procedures, and quality requirementsReport damaged product, faulty equipment, and possible contamination to the supervisor, SQF Practitioner, or managementAbility to thrive in a high paced environmentPerform repetitive physical tasks involving considerable bending, stooping, and walkingHigh regard for personal hygiene and following all food safety protocolsMaintain a safe, clean, organized truck, and perform regular cleaningCreate a good relationship with customers and vendorsHelp in the greenhouse as neededFlexibility with weekend and extended daily hours is mandatoryReport food safety and quality problems to Supervisor, the SQF Practitioner or directly to Senior Management
Additional Responsibilities when not driving include, but are not limited to:
Completing delivery paperwork accurately and consistentlyKeeping the inside of the truck cleanDumping greenhouse trash as neededFilling the diesel tank for the greenhouse when necessaryDumping trash/compost/order picking/removing finished goods from secondaryOther duties directed by onsite Supervisor (as needed)
Qualifications:
Valid Non CDL C Driver’s LicenseClean driving recordAbility to pass a DOT physicalDue to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.Ability to fulfill routine logs related to food safety and inspection reports, either in paperwork or digital formForklift experience a plusMust speak fluent English
You are applying to a DOT-regulated role. This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). An offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical. An Active and Valid DOT Medical Card with longer than 4 months (120 days) until the expiration date may be submitted in leu of a DOT physical. If there is less than 4 months of validity on the DOT medical card, a DOT physical will be required.
Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older. Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File (DQF) and be eligible to drive in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
Working conditions
Trucks/Greenhouse/Warehouse/Coolers. Employees will have frequent exposure to seasonal conditions which may range from extreme heat and humidity in the summer to cold in the winter. Most of the hours will be during the nights and early morning. Will spend the majority of time driving truck and performing the loading and unloading. The noise level of machines and cooling units can be loud. All safety gear will be provided, and expected to be used, for conditions involving extreme weather, noise, and chemical exposure.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees are expected to constantly use hands to finger, handle or feel, as well as talk and hear. Loading and Unloading trucks requires walking, reaching with hands and arms, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. The lifting requirements are to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, often lift up to 25 pounds, and constantly lift up to 10 pounds. The employee should have clear, correctable vision at close and distance range, as well as peripheral vision to notice safety hazards.
