This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Lowboy Truck Driver.
Duties & Essential Job Functions
Valid Class “A” CDL license and driving record within MVR policy guidelinesMust have familiarity with the safe operation of construction and or paving equipmentResponsible for the safe loading and unloading of construction and paving equipmentAble to work day or night shifts as requiredKnowledge of all USDOT & FMCSA safety regulationsPerform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to vehicle prior to operation DVIRDrive truck equipped with different trailer combinationsAbility to calculate weights of equipment with truck/trailer combo to stay within DOT permitting restrictions and guidelinesKnowledge of FMCSA cargo securement rules and regulationsRequired to carry a current medical examiners certificateUtilize the trucks tablet or computer system.Must be flexible with working hours and should be available on weekends.Must verify shipping document information to ensure accuracy; maintain accurate records.Perform and document daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.Perform daily cleaning of vehicle and equipment.Operate vehicle in a safe and professional manner on highways and at job sites.Exercises good judgment regarding work site access, unloading and operation to and from work site.Must be productive during each shift and be willing to meet the goals that are set.Safely drive and operate the truck in all weather conditions. Performing all duties in accordance with company safety rules and Department of Transportation (DOT) road safety regulations.Qualifications & Requirements
Maintain a current Class A CDL and Valid DOT physical required.Enter load information into a tablet device and/or on paper.Ability to be flexible with schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes.Willing to work nights, weekends and out of town/county or state as required by job location.Willingness to work in a team environment, assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required or work independently with attention to detail.Understand and carry out verbal instructions and to work independently in the performance of routine duties.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and coworkers.Ability to remain calm and deal courteously with public exhibiting customer service skills.Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.Three (3) to five (5) years of industry related experience in hauling heavy equipment is required for this position.Education & Experience
High School Degree preferred.1 year of commercial driving experience required.1 year of heavy equipment operating experience required.3 years of commercial driving experience preferred.Ability to obtain a TWIC card preferred.
