Drill Press Operator
Job Title: Drill Press OperatorJob Description

As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for running multiple pieces of equipment during each shift, including CNC saws, drills, CNC angle machines, sheers, brake press, and coping machines. The software used across all equipment is the same, allowing for easy transition between machines. Flexibility to learn and operate all equipment is crucial.

ResponsibilitiesOperate multiple CNC machines based on nightly orders.Gather raw steel beams or plates using a forklift and/or overhead crane.Ensure accurate machine setup and operation for production.Conduct inspections and troubleshooting as needed.Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Essential SkillsMinimum of 3-5 years experience in CNC operations.Proficiency in reading a tape measure and converting fractions to decimals.Experience with forklifts and overhead cranes.Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.Ability to work a second shift and occasional Saturdays.Capability to work in a heavy industrial environment.
Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in the steel industry or heavy industry.Knowledge of blueprint reading and machine setup.Familiarity with various measuring tools such as calipers and tape measures.Understanding of steel fabrication processes.

Work Environment

The role is based in a 200K square foot steel fabrication shop that operates on a second shift from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, and 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Fridays. Expect to work a minimum of 50 hours per week, with occasional Saturdays required. The facility is non-climate controlled, meaning you must be prepared to work in both hot and cold conditions. The environment is loud and heavy industrial, with safety being a top priority. Steel toe boots and safety glasses are mandatory.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
