The purpose of the role is to design, develop, test, maintain, and provide assistance with the support of applications software.

The responsibility of this position includes technical analysis, design and programming, integration support, technical customer support. A strong focus is placed on analysis, design and development work.

Key Responsibilities

Designing, coding, testing and installing applications programs either in one major program or a range of programs across multiple platforms. Conducting design and code reviews, providing advice and support of more junior members of the team. Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining systems and program documentation. Analysis and design of applications programs and databases. Assist and advice in problem determination and resolution. Liaising with users to assist with problem determination. Work closely with the business analysts to evaluate possible solutions and refine the business and technical requirements. Ensure that solutions are developed within agreed time frames and to the agreed scope such that business requirements are met. Provide quality applications that are free of defects, fit for purpose, and designed for ongoing ease of support and maintenance. Develop solutions that meet the security and privacy standards. Adhere to published processes and procedures and recommend enhancements to process and procedures where appropriate. Effectively communicate the status of development activities to the Project Team. Exhibiting strong customer and service orientation. Working across teams and functions to ensure the ongoing health and performance of IT systems are maintained and enhanced. Well versed with Agile ways of working. Consistently responding rapidly to high severity systems problems; resolving them quickly and effectively. Effectively communicate across all levels of the organisation.

Required Skills and Experience

6+ years of experience in Programming and Applications Design, with a minimum of 4 years in a large IT site, coupled with tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or a related discipline. Commercially proven experience in developing applications, including at least 4 years working with Microsoft .NET and proficient in C# language, architecture, and design standards. Frontend Development: Strong experience with ASP.NET and MVC for building responsive web applications. Backend Development: Proficient in .NET, .NET Core, C#, and Entity Framework. Experience with Web API, SOAP services, and XML integration. Database: Solid knowledge of SQL Server and SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI). Cloud Platforms:  Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). DevOps & Tools:  Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Terraform. Proficient in Jira and Confluence for agile project management and documentation. Extensive knowledge of dependency injection and Entity framework. Developed knowledge of Object Orientated (OO) analysis and design, OO methodologies and techniques. Strong programming aptitude. Ability to understand the essential needs of users and meet these in well-designed programs. Experience in component and assembly testing. In depth knowledge of the SDLC. Knowledge of common debugging techniques. Experience in planning and estimating personal and other’s work effort. Ability to communicate problems of a technical nature to all levels of management and users. Skills in conducting structured analysis and problem analysis.
