Position Summary: 


The DOT Compliance Program Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations for AmeriGas. This role requires collecting, updating, and monitoring all driver qualification documentation for all regulated drivers, conducting audits, recordkeeping, and providing training to ensure safety and compliance.

 

Essential Functions:  

 

•    Ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, including driver qualification documentation, motor vehicle reports, and drug and alcohol testing
•    Maintain and update driver qualification files, including medical cards, CDL, annual driving records, and other required documents within appropriate database and in compliance with DOT regulations. 
•    Ensure proper record-keeping specifically for OPS employees performing covered functions under DOT regulations, maintaining documentation separate from FMCSA records
•    Coordinate with local operations to schedule drug screens for new hires, random testing, reasonable suspicion, return to duty, follow-up and post-accident testing
•    Maintain DOT drug and alcohol database by ensuring testing is performed as required and pool is maintained correctly
•    Monitor all compliance and non-compliance issues to develop compliance improvement plans, ensuring systematic resolution mechanisms are established in a timely manner
•    Manage all aspects of the FMCSA Clearinghouse, ensuring all tasks are completed, and records are entered accurately and promptly
•    Provide support in DOT compliance audits to maintain audit readiness. Conduct audits of all DOT and safety documents for accuracy and completeness, follow up with stakeholders to ensure completion
•    Serve as the Designated Employee Representative (DER) for the company's DOT Drug & Alcohol program, acting as the primary point of contact for all testing-related communications
•    Develop and conduct reasonable suspicion training for managers and supervisors to properly identify signs of potential drug or alcohol misuse in the workplace 
•    Respond to field calls regarding reasonable suspicion situations, providing guidance to supervisors on proper procedures and next steps

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

 

•    Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and compliance requirements.
•    Proficiency in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of compliance-related activities, such as driver logs, vehicle inspections, and training sessions
•    Knowledge of drug and alcohol testing requirements and procedures for commercial drivers
•    Ability to identify and handle priority and/or sensitive issues with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality
•    Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
•    Effective written and verbal communication/interaction skills

 

Education:

 

•    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge and skills
•    3+ years of experience conducting audits, managing compliance programs, and handling regulatory reporting
