Job Title Dosimetry Specialist Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Food Science & Technology Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description The Dosimetry Lab Specialist (Research Specialist I) works in the dosimetry lab with dosimetry technicians to ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, personnel are properly trained, prepare and analyze dosimeters, prepare, and irradiate research samples, calibrate dosimetry systems and other appropriate laboratory equipment, create and review commercial and research reports/documents, as well asother tasks assigned by the Manager. Responsibilities:- Occasional heavy lifting required- Operate dosimetry software- Create reports in Microsoft Word and Excel- Assist non-processing tasks such as cleaning, maintenance on instruments, and schedule shipments of materials Work with biohazardous samples on occasion- Calibrate laboratory equipment- Supervise student workers when needed- Review Procedures and logs- Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records- Performs other related duties as assigned Required Education and Experience:- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience-Four years of related experience. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment- Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications; intermediate to advanced Excel Skills and ability to maintain complex spreadsheets. - Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others- Strong verbal and written communication skills- Ability to prioritize/balance multiple tasks to meet team goals and deadlines - Ability to interact with both internal and external departments/customers in a positive manner - Critical thinking skills to identify process improvements and efficiencies- Strong service ethic and desire to maintaing National Center of Electron Beam Research high standards- Willingness to contribute beyond the defined role to meet needs as circumstances require.- Self-starter and strong desire to achieve results.
