Job Summary
The Dosimetry Coordinator is responsible to the Radiation Protection Supervisor - Instrumentation and dosimetry for coordinating Federally mandated dose record maintenance, for personnel receiving occupational radiation exposure at Cook Plant, for granting access to plant Restricted Areas, for maintaining knowledge of changing requirements for dose record maintenance, and ensuring Dosimetry vendors meet Cook and Industry standards through audits and surveillances.Job Description
What You'll Do:
Responsible for ensuring proper operation, including verification that all regulatory driven limits are properly input into the Sentinel Access Control computer system.Verify processes are in place to ensure that all requirements of 10CFR19 and 10CFR20 have been met prior to issuing thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) to monitor workers' external exposure.Responsible for the oversight of bioassays using multichannel whole-body counters.Oversee the creation, maintenance, and verify the accuracy of annual exposure reports for workers at Cook Nuclear Plant.Oversee and verify the accuracy of information entry into the Personnel Access Data System (PADS).Respond to requests for personal dose information from other nuclear facilities. Verify the accuracy and transmittal of this information.Perform periodic reviews of dosimetry procedures to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained at all times.Implement and adhere to all radiological control practices and contamination control program requirements. Identify and correct improper contamination control practices as they occur.Support and participate in Emergency Plan activities as assigned, in accordance with the procedures and policies applicable for the assigned role.What We're Looking For:
Education:
High school diploma or GED.Work Experience:
The incumbent should have a minimum of five years of dosimetry experience.Other Requirements:
Must possess a broad knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures relating to dosimetry, including the applicable requirements of 10CFR19 and 10CFR20.Performance of duties may involve work in hazardous areas and possible radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant.
