Dorm Manager (Starting Pay: DOE, Full Time) - MT Edgecumbe - Sitka, AK
**Job Description** NANA Management Services (NMS) is seeking a caring, responsible, and proactive Dorm Manager to foster a safe, healthy, and supportive living and learning environment for students at Mount Edgecumbe High School (MEHS). The Dorm Manager builds strong relationships with students, provides direct supervision, guides their personal growth, and actively contributes to the positive residential experience, including participating in and facilitating recreational activities. This role requires commitment to student well-being, adherence to school policies, and effective collaboration with school staff. **Responsibilities** + Build and establish healthy, caring relationships with each student. + Provide direct supervision of students to ensure their health, safety, and adherence to the school’s Code of Conduct and health and safety rules. + Guide, mentor, and help students become successful learners and responsible citizens within the MEHS community. + Model positive behavior and supervise student treatment of school furnishings, keys, and bedding. + Provide general supervision to the student body in residential halls and other campus locations as assigned by the Residential Principal, in collaboration with the Contract Supervisor. + Treat MEHS day students with the same level of care and supervision as residential students. + Provide for the care of students who are in a dorm room due to illness or injury when not in the sick bay. + Transport students to the ER as needed between 1:00 AM and 8:00 AM, ensuring check-in with medical staff. State staff will assist with additional students if contractor staff are unavailable. + Help Residential Advisors (RAs) plan and carry out at least one recreational activity each week involving a minimum of five students. + Supervise assigned activities, particularly when most students are not in the dorms and are attending activities in the gym, upon assignment by the Residential Principal. + Assist with the snack program during the evening study period in the dorms. + Assist in solving problems or issues concerning students’ daily responsibilities, actively collaborating with MEHS State staff. + Operate within a technologically rich working environment, utilizing school-provided technology for communication. + Help sort, post, and distribute mail lists and mail, and assist students with mail retrieval. + Remove snow and ice from dormitory stairways, ramps, and entrances between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM on weekdays, and anytime needed on weekends. + Provide support for breaks, schedules, and relief to RAs when they conduct activities. + Create close and supportive relationships with RAs in their assigned dorm. + Display a calm and supportive demeanor and strong team-building skills. + Communicate regularly with the on-site supervisor. + Oversee RAs' attention to detail inspections, room inspections, and ensure all forms and paperwork are kept up-to-date. + Attend all meetings scheduled by the on-site supervisor or dorm director. **Qualifications** + High school diploma or GED equivalent. + CPR/First Aid certified or able to obtain prior to start date. + Education and experience in psychology, social work, counseling, special educational needs and/or teaching in a residential setting; Alaska cultural experience; staff supervision, and communication skills. + Mandatory qualifications or training…List of training to be provided each year. + Proficient communication skills, digitally (especially via email) and in a presentation setting/format. + Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English. + Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Preferred Requirements + Preferred one (1) year experience in a school setting + A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Weather: Indoors and Outdoors, frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Noise level: Moderate to Loud. Description of environment: Environment will vary based on the facility assigned to. Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
