We’re currently seeking a Domestic Laundry Assistant to join our hardworking and compassionate team at Colchester Hospital.
As a Domestic Laundry Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring that critical infection prevention standards are upheld by providing a high-quality laundry service for microfiber cloths and mops used across the hospital.
By joining us, you’ll help maintain high standards of cleanliness across more than 1,000 inpatient beds – directly supporting infection control and helping to keep patients safe and comfortable.

What you’ll do:
Operating washing and drying machines in line with manufacturer guidelines
Ensuring items are correctly laundered, dried, and colour-coded to comply with National Cleaning Standards
Keeping laundry areas clean and organised in accordance with Infection Control procedures
Recording laundry cycles and usage for audit and inspection readiness
Supporting the wider domestic team in delivering a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
What you bring:
Reliable and detail-oriented, with an understanding of infection control standards
A team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues and healthcare professionals
Proactive, with good communication skills and a commitment to quality service
Health & Safety aware, with a Zero Harm mindset and willingness to report incidents or equipment faults promptly
Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota
Experience in a similar laundry, cleaning or healthcare support role is desirable
