What You'll Do
The Domain Architect, Infrastructure Platform is responsible for leading the architectural vision, governance, and technical strategy across BCG’s core infrastructure platform domains. This includes cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba), on-prem hosting, and the provisioning and automation ecosystem. This role ensures that the infrastructure stack is cohesive, scalable, secure, and supports BCG’s hybrid and multi-cloud ambitions through clear patterns, architecture guardrails, and close alignment with business and engineering objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture Strategy & Vision:Define and maintain the end-to-end technical architecture for infrastructure platforms across cloud and on-prem domains.Establish a modular and scalable platform blueprint that supports hybrid workloads and service-oriented operations.Align infrastructure architecture with organizational priorities, enabling agility, security, and automation at scale.Drive adoption of modern infrastructure paradigms including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), zero-touch provisioning, and cloud-native constructs.Platform Integration & Design Standards:Develop architectural patterns and reusable designs that span AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba, and on-prem hosting environments.Ensure alignment across provisioning, compute, storage, networking, and automation teams.Define architecture guardrails and reference implementations to ensure design consistency and compliance.Drive adoption of standards through deep engagement with engineering squads and platform leads.Technical Leadership & Governance:Serve as the lead architect for infrastructure services and represent platform architecture in governance forums.Evaluate emerging technologies, vendors, and tools that can improve platform reliability, performance, or developer experience.Create and maintain a long-term roadmap for infrastructure architecture evolution.Review and approve architectural decisions, ensuring they meet resilience, security, cost, and operational goals.Automation, Observability & Modernization:Embed automation, self-service, and observability into infrastructure designs.Ensure all infrastructure components are measurable, reliable, and compliant by default.Support adoption of SRE principles, infrastructure-as-code, and proactive telemetry within all layers of the platform.Lead modernization initiatives to evolve legacy components toward modern, service-oriented platforms.Collaboration & Cross-Domain Alignment:Collaborate closely with cloud engineering, DevOps, security, networking, and operations leaders.Ensure architectural alignment across domains, reducing duplication and improving platform efficiency.Support transformation initiatives, enabling scalable platforms for AI, GenAI, and data-intensive workloads.Partner with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity on policy, risk, and integration concerns.Leadership & Mentoring:Lead and mentor a team of domain architects and senior infrastructure technologists.Build architectural capability across engineering squads through coaching, patterns, and architectural reviews.Foster a strong architecture culture focused on simplicity, scalability, and shared ownership.What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications:
12+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, platform engineering, or cloud solutions roles.Proven expertise in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba) and on-prem data center architectures.Experience designing and implementing automated provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC frameworks.Deep understanding of cloud-native services, virtualization, hybrid networking, and containerization.Strong grasp of observability, automation, performance engineering, and operational resilience.Preferred Qualifications:
Architecture certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).Experience leading architecture in a large enterprise or distributed hybrid cloud environment.Familiarity with enterprise architecture tools, modeling standards, and governance frameworks.Who You'll Work With
