This leader partners cross-functionally with the merchandising team, Own Brands, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver member-centric solutions that drive growth in sales, margin, member participation, and share. This role reports to the GMM (General Merchandise Manager) for Grocery, Services, and Sundries, and oversees a team of five direct reports. The DMM isl be responsible for a $3.5b portfolio of businesses. Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities + Create and lead the strategic vision, direction, and tactics to achieve short and long-term business objectives in the Grocery Division. + Own and drive achievement of budgeted sales, profit, and inventory productivity goals. + Lead, develop, and evaluate a high-performing category management team of five direct reports. + Leverage internal/external data as well as input gathered from formal/informal research to direct the creation of optimal assortment, pricing, and promotion strategies. + Partner with Own Brands to define assortment, pricing, promotion, and merchandising opportunities. + Lead vendor negotiations to secure favorable costs and terms, while unlocking strategic investments for BJ’s. + Collaborate cross-functionally across Logistics, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to align strategies and drive results. + Develop and nurture collaborative, long-term vendor relationships that enhance category performance. + Champion adoption of category management best practices including assortment strategy, roles, and space management. Qualifications + Bachelor’s Degree required. + Minimum of 8-10 years of merchandising leadership experience, including at least 5 years in direct buying/category management. + Proven leadership capability with experience managing high-performing teams. + Strong negotiation and analytical skills. + Expertise in category management and assortment strategy. + In-depth understanding of industry trends, competitive dynamics, and member insights. + Familiarity with inventory management, pricing, logistics, and promotional planning. + Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator. This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days. In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $145,000.00.
