Job Summary
Coordinates and oversees the service line work of the Food Services crew providing quality service to the customer.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide direct supervision and operational oversight of the assigned Dining Facility, ensuring efficient and effective daily operations.Ensure strict adherence to all applicable policies, procedures, and standards, including:KBR Food Service Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).Statement of Work (SOW) requirements.NAVMED P-5010 – Manual of Naval Preventive Medicine (Food Safety).NAVSUP P-486 – Food Service Management (General Messes).NAVSUP P-7 – Armed Forces Recipe Service.Navy Knowledge Online (NKO).21-Day Continuity of Operations (CONOPS) Menu.Collaborate with the Food Service Manager, KBR Galley staff, military representatives, and other support entities to coordinate staffing, rations, supplies, equipment, maintenance, and service requests.Maintain open and effective communication with the Food Service Manager, addressing operational issues and ensuring timely resolution.Serve as a liaison between the Dining Facility and senior management, ensuring clear communication of initiatives and expectations.Oversee the receiving, inventory, and accountability of all rations and supplies in accordance with Navy regulations.Ensure cross-functional coordination to guarantee availability of all menu items.Support and coordinate special events hosted within the facility.Enforce safe work practices and immediately address any unsafe behaviors or conditions.Conduct and document daily safety, hygiene, and sanitation briefings.Ensure compliance with NAVMED 5010 Chapter 1 procedures for food handling and sanitary conditions.Train and evaluate staff on safety protocols, infection control, and proper equipment usage.Conduct “Cooks Muster” inspections prior to each shift to verify medical clearance and roster accuracy.Act as the first point of contact for Human Resource concerns under the Open Door Policy.Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to staff, recognizing achievements and addressing underperformance with appropriate documentation.Initiate and document training and evaluations for all Local Nationals (LNs) under the Djiboutian 1ST program.Conduct monthly SOP refresher training sessions.Lead initiatives focused on continuous improvement and exceeding operational expectations.Regularly inspect the facility to identify opportunities for enhancement.Facilitate team meetings with KBR and subcontractor staff to gather input on improving:Customer serviceFood quality and presentationSanitation and workplace safetyLabor efficiencyCost controlReview and validate all production records daily.Check and respond to emails twice daily.Provide verbal daily reports to the Food Service Manager.Perform vehicle safety checks and manage weekly dispatches.Attend meetings and complete assigned reports and projects.Manage R&R scheduling to ensure adequate staffing levels.Must be fit for duty and capable of lifting to 30 pounds.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.Basic Qualifications / Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in food service supervisory or managerial role within the food service industry.Must possess a valid ANSI-accredited or equivalent food protection certification.Demonstrated working knowledge of food service activities for a comparable operation. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage food services and logistics staff. Ability to fully execute the food service duties and responsibilities. Must have effective communication skills (written/verbal) with exceptional problem resolution abilities. Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills. Expert computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team. Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.KBR Benefits
