Purpose
The Division Quality Manager for Roseburg Forest Products is responsible for setting direction, standards, and programs related to quality control and quality assurance across the business they support. This position has responsibility for ensuring effective processes are in place and utilized to achieve expected quality related results within their assigned business. Additionally, the Division Quality Manager is responsible for collaborating with plant leadership to ensure proper staffing and training is maintained within plant level quality roles in their business unit. This role will also be responsible for developing standards and training for critical production staff across their business unit. The Division Quality Manager works under the direction of the (Senior) Manufacturing Director as well as the Quality Director. This position will also partner with the sales department to understand customer quality complaints or claims and partner with Technical and Reliability teams to develop new products or investigate quality issues related to equipment or technology components.
Key Responsibilities
Establish quality standards and supporting programs by studying product and consumer requirements, along with regulatory and industry specific product specifications.Develop raw material standards by studying manufacturing and engineering requirementsDevelop and ensure the consistent execution of quality assurance processesInstitute rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and proceduresCreate product quality documentation system by creating and updating quality assurance proceduresReview and investigate customer claims, followed by any necessary testing Ensure on going calibration of testing equipmentEnsure consistent calibration of process equipment and measurement toolsVariance analysis on specs vs actual resultsMaintain product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements.Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Collaborate with plant leadership to recruit, select, and train quality assurance team membersModel company core values Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelors in Business, Operational Management or related field and 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control; or an equivalent amount of education, training, and experience Working knowledge of quality system requirementsExperience with MS Word, Excel, Project Management and Analytics softwareStrong attention to detail with high level of accuracy and efficiency to meet strict governmental reporting requirements Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of management from plant manager to hourly team membersProved leader with strong direction setting and motivation strengthsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to successfully and timely complete projects and reportsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain a comprehensive timeline for completion of the projects
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of QA/QC requirements in the wood products sector with focus on MDF, plywood, lumber, and EWPExperience with QA measuring and testing equipmentKnowledge of safety requirements and legal standards
