The primary responsibility of a Division Manager is to grow the Division’s Operating Income by leading the day-to-day sales and operations teams (approximately 10 people total). Provides direction to ensure safe and efficient operations, with complete customer satisfaction/delivery, quality, and long-term sustainable growth. This high-visibility role is 40% Strategic + 60% Tactical and works closely with the Global Corporate Senior Leadership team to progress in a rolling 3-year strategic company vision.
The most critical part of the job responsibilities requires most of the employee’s time and effort.
Full P&L responsibility for all aspects of the division, including sales, profitability, overhead, and cost control
Maintain daily/weekly and monthly production requirements to meet sales and customer demands
Provide leadership and management at all levels of the organization
Communicate, lead by example, and execute the strategic plan, vision, and values of the company
Implements production plans, maintains equipment/workforce efficiency, reports, and manages supply chain constraints and determines the scheduling and staffing requirements needed to meet production demands
Provides focus and guidance to all site staff to maintain quality, schedule, and production/ sales expectations
Acts as the technical specialist for all in-house personnel, as well as customers and sales staff when needed
Works with the inside team to support all sales efforts, requests for quote (RFQ), and design or development requirements for new products.
Participates in the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes, including coordinating the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operational budgets, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts to ensure legal compliance and to protect the organization’s interests
Maintains oversight responsibility for the effective implementation of the continuous improvement efforts of the organization and monitors results via business metrics/customer satisfaction
Develops metrics/assessment tools to understand the organization's and its teams' overall performance.
Oversees deployment of environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures within the area. Ensures workplace training and safety plans are fully implemented. Ensures the area complies with OSHA, EPA, and other safety and health requirements. Operates as a working manager, participating in direct project activities.
Directs all program phases from inception through completion
Works with executive management to establish cost-focused performance targets and directs work to achieve these targets
Leads cost reduction efforts and process improvements for the unit or shift to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.
WORK EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
7-15 years of experience in Distribution, Metals, Aerospace or Manufacturing industry in a mixture of sales AND operational roles
Minimum 2 years of management experience (of direct reports)
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Distribution Experience preferred
Metals and/or Aerospace experience is a plus
