Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

Saint Louis University is guided by the value of “Cura Personalis”—a commitment to individualized care and service for the greater good. SSM Health’s mission is to provide exceptional healthcare as a means of revealing the presence of God in our community. The Department of Medicine, the largest department within the School of Medicine, encompasses 11 divisions and 15 graduate medical education programs. The Division of Hematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, and Cellular Therapy consists of fourteen faculty members, a robust fellowship program, and a dedicated team of advanced practice providers. The Division operates at Saint Louis University Hospital—a Level 1 trauma center, offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including bone marrow transplantation, cellular therapy, and a wide range of medical oncologic and subspecialty consultations. The Division offers outpatient services at the SSM Saint Joseph Hospital in Lake Saint Louis, SLUCare Physician Group in Des Peres, and St. Louis Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The Division is recognized for its high-quality patient care throughout the bi-state region and is committed to excellence in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Our ACGME-accredited Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program provides comprehensive training in a supportive, excellence-driven environment at both SSM Saint Louis University Hospital and the St. Louis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The Division is actively engaged in extramurally funded and industry-sponsored clinical trials and is seeking a new Director to further elevate its research profile to national prominence.

The Division Director will play a pivotal role in the SSM Saint Louis Regional Oncology Service Line, collaborating with both academic and community-based medical and radiation oncologists and cancer surgeons. The Director is expected to dedicate approximately 20% effort to the Regional Clinical Program Leader role, including participation in the regional service line steering committee and serving as Clinical Program Co-Chair.

Applicants must hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree, be board certified in Hematology or Oncology, and be eligible for medical licensure in Missouri. A strong record of recruiting and retaining talent, as well as national or international recognition through professional organizations, is highly desirable.
