District Manager
The District Manager is responsible for all sales and operational performance of those branches assigned directly to him/her, over which he/she is to exercise managerial control to be able to achieve proper (or budgeted) sales and net profit
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operations
Supervision of the Branch Managers and close coordination with that individual as to the branch’s operation in such a manner that all sales and operating budgets are met or exceeded on an annual basis. This also includes ensuring a safe workplace, proper safety training, and reviewing its fleet condition. This means DOT and OSHA standards need to be met, in which the Gulfeagle Fleet & Safety Director may be consulted for assistance.
The District Manager shall serve as a leader to the Branch Managers and shall review profit and loss statements with the managers monthly and submit the monthly P&L reviews by the deadline and to the recipient, as established by the President each month.
The District Manager shall ensure that all administrative functions in the branch are always operating smoothly.
The District Manager shall work with the Branch Managers to ensure that all inventories are maintained at proper volume levels within the goals established by corporate management and take proper measures to guard against theft (internal and/or external).
The District Manager shall ensure that all company policies are fully implemented and carried out at the branch level. These policies can be referred to in full on Gulfeagle’ s Intranet site.
The District Manager shall assist in preparing annual operations (and sales) sales budgets and review the same before they are forwarded appropriately.
The District Manager shall travel to the branches in the District to accomplish the aforementioned and utilize the District Manager Checklist Form when doing so.
The District Manager will provide Support for district purchases
The District Manager will embrace and grow vendor partnerships within the district.
The District Manager will be responsible for customer management, ensuring and developing key customer relationships within the district.
Sales
Sales Management – oversee, direct, assist, review sales strategies, track success including new account progress, and hold accountable the outside salesmen (Territory Managers) of the assigned area, and also is to identify non-performers and develop written plan of action with a timeline (copy to be also given to RVP). This would typically be during non-travel/field time *Note – this position should not be involved in classroom training unless directed explicitly to the CROO, President or CEO.
Sales Budget process – is actively involved in establishing the annual sales budgeting process for
each salesperson in the assigned area.
New products/sales opportunities – identify new products or options that may enhance sales in a profitable way (and advise the RVP).
Negotiates pricing – when appropriate, negotiate pricing on specific jobs or customers (in conjunction with the Purchasing Department or the CROO) with Preferred Vendors to close sales or grow business.
Responsible for developing personal relationships with key customers to drive sales.
People Development
The District Manager shall be responsible for assisting in recruiting, hiring, and staffing the branches he is responsible for. This can be done by counseling the Branch Managers and/or by taking direct action. Additionally, the District Manager can utilize Gulfeagle’ s Talent Acquisition Manager to assist in this process.
The District Manager shall be responsible for growing and developing personnel and building a team for success. The District Manager shall also approve requests for compensation changes before being forwarded on to corporate and is directly responsible for the annual Branch Manager’s evaluations every year (due approx. in June for the prior year).
Company Growth
The District Manager shall be responsible for:
Seeking new opportunities for additional branches within the District Manager’s geographic boundaries (either greenfield or via acquisition)
Completing market surveys on possible expansion of cities and/or market areas.
Formulate a business plan as needed to execute growth per above.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A well-organized person with strong administrative and good interpersonal skills. A person who is very dependable and who can work independently.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a construction materials management sales role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise, and communicate effectively with subordinates
Demonstrated product and industry knowledge
Demonstrated leadership ability
