Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Operations Technology SCADA Supervisor to lead a growing team of engineers and analysts supporting the Distribution SCADA (DSCADA) system. This role is critical to ensuring reliable and secure grid operations, with a focus on technical leadership, team development, and project execution during a major upgrade phase.
The successful candidate will provide both strategic and hands-on leadership for the DSCADA environment, including support for GE DSCADA, GE ADMS, and GE DERMS, communication protocol integration and cyber security. This team supports 24/7 control center operations via a rotating on-call structure and is a key player in our Operations Technology (OT) ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise a growing team of approximately 10 engineers and analysts responsible for the health, performance, and evolution of the Distribution SCADA environment. Provide technical oversight and support for DSCADA, ADMS, DERMS, and related OT platforms. Lead system upgrades, integrations, and transitions, including migration to automated deployments of containerized services on Kubernetes clusters Oversee daily system monitoring, event response, troubleshooting, and performance tuning across OT network layers. Collaborate with Southern Company Peers, Cybersecurity, and IT to ensure system integrity, compliance, and availability. Manage relationships with key vendors for product support, licensing, and implementation efforts. Support infrastructure automation initiatives, including Infrastructure-as-Code, process scripting, and configuration management (e.g., GitHub). Promote best practices in system documentation, code management, change control, and incident response.
Education
BS degree in Engineering , Computer Science, or related technical field ).Experience, Skills, and Abilities
2+ years of experience in a formal or informal supervisory/leadership role preferred. Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized application deployment. Hands-on experience with GE or Alstom SCADA/ADMS/DERMS platforms a plus. Familiarity with DNP3, ICCP, and other industrial communication protocols a plus. Experience working in Linux and Windows Server environments; virtualization using VMware. Strong understanding of networked industrial control systems and zoned architectures. Experience leading or supporting ADMS and/or DERMS implementations. Working knowledge of automation scripting, documentation, and modern software management principles. Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change, innovation, and modernization efforts. Familiarity with NERC CIP or other utility-relevant cybersecurity frameworks (a plus).
