Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Distribution Planning Engineer to join our team in Oakland, CA. This role involves frequent onsite presence and is essential for developing strategies to upgrade distribution systems and integrate Distributed Energy Resources (DER). As a key player in the utilities, energy, and power systems industry, your contributions will ensure the grid meets future energy demands.

ResponsibilitiesAnalyze distribution system performance and forecast future load and DER impacts.Develop distribution planning strategies that support electrification, resilience, and customer programs.Coordinate with internal teams to prioritize and scope distribution projects.Ensure planning rigor and traceability by applying established standards.Engage in stakeholder discussions and present planning outcomes.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution planning or operations.Proficiency in using distribution modeling tools such as CYME and Synergi.Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior experience with PG&E is highly preferred.Familiarity with PG&E engineering standards.Experience with distribution design and power distribution.Work Environment

The role is based in Oakland, CA, requiring frequent onsite presence. There are options for remote or hybrid work arrangements, depending on project needs. The position is contract-based with a W-2 employment type, within a supportive and dynamic environment focused on delivering excellence in the utilities and energy sector.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $75.00/hr.
