Leidos is seeking an experienced and driven Manager of Distribution Engineering to lead a growing team responsible for the development of electric distribution construction work packages. This role is critical in supporting key utility clients across the Northeast and will oversee the delivery of engineering solutions for a wide range of projects including capital improvements, grid hardening initiatives, maintenance programs, and other client-driven scopes.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and mentor a team of distribution engineers and designers in the successful delivery of complex utility projects.Oversee the production of high-quality construction work packages using tools such as GIS, CAD, WMS, and other utility-specific systems.Ensure technical accuracy and compliance with client construction standards, safety guidelines, and engineering best practices.Manage project scopes related to:Overhead and underground distribution engineeringGrid modernization and hardeningSystem maintenance and reliability improvement programsStorm hardening and resiliency projectsPerform and oversee engineering calculations including:Structural pole loading and guying analysisCable pulling and conduit fill calculationsVoltage drop, flicker, and other power calculationsSupport permitting and Right-of-Way acquisition efforts, including preparation of forestry trimming requests and easement documentation.Review and approve Bill of Materials (BOM), cost estimates, and Customer Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC) calculations.Foster close working relationships with Leidos clients and internal cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, high-quality project delivery.This position may have remote working capabilities, but Candidates should be located in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New York or other neighboring Northeastern state, in order to provide support to internal teams and Leidos’ utility customers as needed. Some occasional local or regional travel may be anticipated, including on-site or in-office meetings with Leidos' customers.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)Minimum of 6+ years of experience in electric utility distribution engineering, including team leadership or project management experienceStrong working knowledge of electric distribution standards, design practices, and utility regulatory environmentsProficiency with engineering and design tools such as GIS, AutoCAD, WMS, PoleForeman, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer, GE Smallworld, Maximo, or similar products or related systemsDemonstrated ability to manage distributed teams and multi-stakeholder project environmentsExcellent written and verbal communication skills; strong client-facing presenceProfessional Engineering (PE) license is a plusMust reside in or be willing to relocate to the Northeastern U.S., with the flexibility to attend periodic in-person meetings as neededAt Leidos, we pride ourselves on being a trusted and technology-focused solutions provider.
