Job Description
We are seeking experienced Distribution Engineers to join our dynamic team in Florida. The role involves supporting power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects throughout the state. Initial projects involve collaboration with major utility companies and focus on significant improvements in power distribution reliability.
ResponsibilitiesConduct engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorating cable.Transition overhead lines to underground systems.Reconduct existing distribution lines and replace aging poles.Perform structural analysis of poles and guying.Coordinate cable pulling, electrical demand, fault currents, and protective device settings.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 years of experience in Distribution Engineering/Design.Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) from a 4-year ABET-Accredited institution.Basic knowledge of electric utility industry concepts, including primary and secondary distribution systems.Proficiency in design software packages and general construction knowledge.Strong understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.Effective written and oral communication skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Duke system distribution design.Customer interaction experience in different industries such as retail or restaurants.Familiarity with BOUD/Maximo, Smallworld, Bentley Open Utility Designer, and Microstation.EIT certification or having passed the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.Work Environment
The position is based in our Maitland office, known for its collaborative and supportive environment, especially beneficial for entry-level individuals. The team comprises about 40-50 Engineers and Designers, with a focus on extensive On-The-Job Training. The office culture emphasizes teamwork and continuous professional development.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
