The Distribution associate performs activities associated with filling orders and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts; Receiving product and inventory as required and duties as outlined below in the Pipe Yard.
Complete all work accurately, safely, and efficiently
● Locate items specified on the ticket/order and pull required quantity from warehouse or pipe yard
● Verify that any multiple parts/items are all the same.
● Verifies the accuracy of all shipments by comparing to tickets, PO, Manifests, BOL’s, or invoices.
● Prepares documents as needed/required for shipping an order.
● Pulls all orders for next day shipment before leaving work.
● Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or
postage meter Stages and prepares orders for shipment while making sure the items are packaged
neatly.
● Separates material to shipping points. Loads outgoing shipments onto trucks and ship orders on
common carriers. Ensures all tagged material is double checked before shipment.
● Fills bin areas to keep the products available for pulling orders. Keeps racks and bin areas neat. Also
maintains the cleanliness of the warehouse and grounds.
● Organizes pallets and stacks in a safe area. Stages all material in the proper area.
● Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery
of materials.
● Reports to the supervisor or manager any problems, damages, shortages, or other issues or areas of
concern.
● Completes all shipping paperwork in a timely manner and notifies salesperson if the material is short.
● Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents of items for conformance to company
specifications.
● Compares items packed with customer's order and other identifying data.
● Ensures all material pulled is done from the location indicated by the gun. Back-order material is not
ordered without the supervisor's authorization.
● Unload trucks onto the designated Receiving area Move freight, stock, pipe, parts and/or other
materials to and from the unloading area(s), storage areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, boxes,
pallets, or containers, by hand or using hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, or other machinery as
authorized and directed.
● Identify and sort items that need to be tagged and shipped out to customer immediately
● Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine priority of work assignments.
● Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as bills of lading, packing lists, manifests,
invoices, purchase orders, or other documentation to verify that the correct item(s) and the correct
quantities have been delivered.
● Verify that the shipment is intended for this facility and not another.
● Inspect the product for damage. Notes in detail any damage on the freight bill.
● Record needed shipment data, such as weight, freight charges, damages, or discrepancies, for
reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
● Communicate with proper representative(s) any issues, such as damages, shortages, wrong items, or
missing items so issues can be rectified.
● Tag and separate the material that has been received.
● Completes receiving documentation and properly enters all receiving information into the correct
computer system(s).
● Put away stock material and restock the primary order fill locations from secondary locations.
● Print and review paperwork to efficiently work the orders for the day
● Identify the correct pipe type and size and pull order
● Bundle pipe with straps or tape as required
● Load pipe onto the correct truck for delivery or put in proper staging areas for later loading
● Pull orders for Counter Sales as required
● Verify the order and unload pipe when it is received
● Verify the HEAT number and give paperwork to Receiving Clerk
● Sort and put away the pipe in Primary and Secondary locations.
● Report any damage on newly received pipe to Supervisor.
● Cross-trains and can perform successfully in other distribution functions.
● Reports for work on a regular and timely basis.
● Ensure professionalism and exceptional customer service during all interactions.
● Regular and sustained attendance.
● Adherence to Associate Handbook and other relevant Company policies and procedures.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
