Job Description

 

A Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst is responsible for managing the lifecycle of software assets within an organization, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, optimizing software usage, and managing associated costs. Key responsibilities include software procurement, deployment, inventory management, license compliance, and reporting. SAMs also handle software requests, assist with audits, and contribute to budget planning and cost optimization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Software Asset Management

Monitor and manage the organization's software assets throughout their lifecycle.Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and policies.Develop and maintain an accurate software inventory and asset database.Identify opportunities for cost savings through software optimization and license consolidation.Collaborate with corporate entities with wide scope on software asset management, software companies alliance, offering development etc.

Data Analysis and Reporting

Analyze software usage data to identify trends, patterns, and potential risks.Generate reports and dashboards that provide insights into software utilization and compliance status.Assist in the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of software asset management practices.

Collaboration and Communication

Collaborate with IT, procurement, and finance teams to align software asset management activities with organizational goals.Communicate software asset management policies and procedures to stakeholders.Work with vendors and suppliers to negotiate software licensing agreements and resolve any compliance issues.

Who You Are

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Bachelor s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.5+ years of experience in IT Asset Management(HAM/SAM) Domain & overall 8+ years of experience in IT Operations.Understanding various licensing models (perpetual, subscription, user/device-based, etc.) for vendors like Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, SAP, IBM, Broadcom, etc.Expertise in tracking software installations, usage, and license entitlements.Familiarity with ITSM frameworks like ITIL for asset lifecycle management.Knowledge of SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS licensing models for platforms like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and virtualized environments (VMware, Citrix).Proficiency in managing the entire lifecycle of IT assets from procurement to disposal.Proficiency in IT asset management (ITAM)  toolk (e.g., Flexera, Snow License Manager, ServiceNow) and strong excel Knowledge and Basic BIExperience generating reports on software usage, license compliance, and costs, and maintaining comprehensive documentationSkills in budgeting, cost analysis, and financial planning related to IT assets.Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders,Experience assisting with internal and external audits.Provide training to users on software usage and best practices.Stay informed about new software licensing models, industry trends,
