Distinguished Product Manager

The Distinguished Product Manager is accountable for the overall product management discipline and frequently engages directly on the hardest product management problems across Bayer. They make specific contributions to product and platform delivery by working directly with product teams across Bayer IT to ensure each product and platform is oriented toward achieving business objectives. The Distinguished Product Manager provides VACC leadership and establishes a community of product managers across Bayer to share innovation and best practices. The Distinguished Product Manager is an expert communicator and presents to senior leaders across Bayer and externally to accelerate our overall product strategy and build Bayer’s reputation as a leading digital company.

 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

Accountable for the vision and architecture of the process for product management: discovering business strategy needs, the end user needs, market and competitive conditions and distilling this into a digital product vision to design and deliver a differentiated offering often catering to multiple business divisions and having broad business impact.

Customer Focus: Champion the voice of the customer throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring that products meet customer needs and deliver exceptional user experiences. Engage in continuous discovery activities to evolve the digital product strategy to meet changing business needs or to leverage new technologies that will enhance the digital product and deliver business outcomes that increase company performance. Continuously measure the success of product initiatives towards achieving business outcomes and use data-driven insights to inform decision-making. Write business cases and produce financial models for key strategic projects, including in-depth market, industry, and opportunity analysis

Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and opportunities for innovation. Lead through influence the  teams discovering solutions, performing the engineering to deliver on the backlog, prioritizing features and enhancements based on market analysis, customer feedback, and business goals, as well as working with marketing and/or launch teams to ensure capabilities are adopted

Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate effectively with cross functional teams, including engineers, product managers, data scientists, designers and other team members to catalyze the development of digital products and platforms considering dependencies across the ecosystem, and ensuring the successful execution of product initiatives. Make decisions regarding the overall digital product and platform vision across Bayer digital platforms by partnering directly with senior business and IT leaders to develop a holistic deep knowledge of the industry, market, stakeholders and data.

Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch to post-launch optimization, driving continuous improvement and innovation. Team Development: Mentor and coach members of the product management community, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.



Qualifications & Competencies (education, skills, experience):

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent 10+ years software, technology, program or product management experience preferably with internet business experience;Track record of leading through influence and completing large-scale initiatives that involve multiple cross-functional teams from initiation to delivery.A passionate advocate for customers and their needsAbility to establish and manage initiatives against a set of key metrics and goalsDemonstrated experience using testing methods (A/B, focus groups) to evolve products and platformsExpert analytical, management and organizational skillsExpert verbal and written communication abilities: must effectively communicate with technical and non-technical peopleWillingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary; owner mentality with an entrepreneurial drive; demonstrated ability to inspire teamsExpert level problem solving and decision-making skills
