We are seeking a Distinguished Engineer to join our Data Center team located in Shakopee, MN.
The Distinguished Engineer will be a key engineering team member, executing the R&D function for optical connector products. This role involves designing new products to ensure long-term success and profitability. This individual will identify and propose solutions to technical roadblocks and barriers to project completion. They will work closely with Operations and other functions to get products from ideation to full volume production.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Technical Leadership: Act as a lead engineer in the execution of R&D functions in the area of optical connectors Architecture & Design: Drive the architecture, design, and development of next-generation fiber products Innovation & Problem Solving: Deliver innovative, often patentable, solutions to highly complex and ambiguous problems. Frequently recognized for technical contributions that impact business unit profitability Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead initiatives that span multiple teams and ensure inclusive decision-making. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Mentorship & Talent Development: Actively coach and develop engineering talent, fostering innovation and technical excellence across the organization Support: Helps resolve manufacturing problems and customer problems as they arise.REQUIREMENTS
BS degree in engineering or a related discipline. 15+ years minimum relevant design experience 5+ years specifically working on optical connector design Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities Experience mentoring other engineers Design for Manufacturing experienceDESIRED:
Advanced degree Engineering leadership experienceOur salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance.
The candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan. Candidates starting with the Company will be eligible for eleven paid holidays in a full calendar year, two weeks of paid vacation (prorated based on start date), as well as other leave options.
