Job Description

As a Distillation/Churn Wash Specialist, you will be supporting casting and compounding with cleaning of pumps and drums. You will manage hazardous waste from all shifts with proper labels and storage. You must be able to work as a team player and be motivated toward productivity improvements, quality conscientiousness, and hold safety as a value. This role is on B Shift, M-F, 3pm-11pm.

In this important role, you will also be responsible for: 

Maintain a safe and clean work area (5S) 

Cleaning of drums, churns, and pumps from the lines 

Handling of organosol (e.g. defective, outdated materials) 

Checking and removing hazardous waste from the lines, base compounding, compounding and color lab (daily) - Responsible for hazardous waste compactor and hazardous waste storage

Train as a backup with Day Shift responsible for Hazardous Waste shipments 

Inspect waste storage and satellite areas (Daily) 

Optimize the use of equipment to assure casting lines have vessels ready for production 

Communicate any delays or bottlenecks caused by process, quality, or equipment to department supervisor 

Train as a backup with Day Shift responsible for arranging change out of drum trailer when full and communicating out. 

Assist in equipment maintenance activities as needed 

Recommend and implement improvements to the operations 

Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department employees to ensure effective operation 

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned 

Complete performance expectations as outlined in annual GPS 

Stocking the vending and Store area 

Checking and changing solvents in wash tanks and wash/mixer/versating drums 

Operate, maintain and clean distillation unit 

Manage inventory for areas such as pump parts, churn cap gaskets, Teflon drain seals, sprayer heads, plastic clamps, etc. 

Qualifications

What we will be looking for in you: 

Essential: 

Previous manufacturing experience preferred. 

You will regard safety as a core value; serving as role model for other employees and encouraging adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.

You will need to have a strong service and quality focus; addressing issues effectively when problems arise and taking initiative to understand root cause, then communicating / educating the team in a timely manner. 

You will need be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.

You will be required to show proficiency with computer applications.

Ability to operate churn wash equipment (drum, churn wash, drum lift, etc.)

Must have or be able to obtain forklift operator's license 

Demonstrate interpersonal skills; ability to work within a team environment 

Able to think ahead, anticipate problems, make decisions, and take appropriate action 

Possess mechanical aptitude and computer literacy with basic windows and MFG/PRO 

Attention to detail. Able to follow procedures and monitor with accuracy 

Must be able to perform the essential functions and physical requirements of the job 

Must have DOT/RCRA training, to be current within the last 3 years. 


 Required:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
