The*Montana Department of Transportation (MDT)*is recruiting for multiple seasonal, part time Dispatchers. The MDT Transportation Management Center (TMC) dispatcher provides communication services to MDT staff, Federal agencies, National Weather Service, Disaster and Emergency Services, and law enforcement. Duties include road reporting, incident dispatching, emergency communication, variable message sign (VMS) operation, Roadway Management System (RMS) operations and system maintenance. At times, communication requires speaking with highly emotionally charged individuals. There are times of high stress levels, and the Dispatcher must be able to remain calm under emotional emergency conditions. The TMC operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round. Employees should expect to work varying shifts throughout the year including weekends and holidays. The season typically ends in early April, depending on weather. New employees will start on Monday, October 27, 2025 and will complete one week of training during normal business hours.
