UPMC Chautauqua is hiring a full-time Dispatcher to work 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM on a rotating 4-days-on, 4-days-off schedule. This fast-paced role is essential to our 24/7 operations—including weekends and holidays. You’ll use radio communication to dispatch EMS crews for both emergent and non-emergent calls, enter critical information into our computer-aided system, and help coordinate responses that make a real difference. Clear speaking skills and familiarity with medical terminology are preferred. In this role, there is the opportunity to – 

Dispatch appropriate personnel and equipment in response to emergency and non-emergency service requests via radio, phone, or electronic systems. Schedule ambulance and wheelchair transport services, including future appointments, ensuring timely and accurate coordination. Communicate effectively with public safety agencies, PSAPs, hospital departments, and internal supervisors regarding system status, patient transfers, and safety issues. Monitor alarm systems and respond promptly to alerts in accordance with established protocols. Document call information, dispatch activity, and service data accurately in the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system. Facilitate insurance and billing processes by collecting necessary call details and maintaining knowledge of billing procedures. Access mission-critical systems to support operations during events such as Starflight transfers and mass casualty incidents. Demonstrate professional radio and telephone etiquette while multitasking in a high-pressure environment.
