Job Summary

Secure and analyze claim information to make and approve disability decisions and payments on lower complexity and/or lower liability disability and state disability insurance claims. Apply appropriate claim and disability management strategies to ensure prompt, accurate resolution. Deliver responsive and empathetic customer service to claimants, policyowners, and other stakeholders.

This posting may be filled at either the Disability Benefits Examiner or Senior Disability Benefits Examiner level, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

45%: Investigate and analyze medical, occupational, and policy data to determine eligibility for disability benefits. Identify discrepancies and secure additional documentation. Make and communicate decisions for new, ongoing, and maintenance claims.30%: Develop and execute claim strategies to contain liability and ensure accurate benefit duration. Apply medical updates, policy limits, statutory requirements, and return-to-work factors.20%: Communicate claim information to stakeholders. Resolve issues through effective written and verbal communication.5%: Establish accurate financial liability by identifying deductible income and maintaining system data integrity.Ability to work remotely in a secure and professional home office environment is a requirement of the role.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Disability Benefits Examiner: Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in disability benefits administrationSenior Disability Benefits Examiner: 2–3 years of direct claim adjudication experience

Must-Haves:

Strong attention to detail and accuracyClear written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and meet changing deadlinesComfortable working independently in a remote setup

Preferred:

Experience with state disability insurance claimsFamiliarity with claim management systems and documentation standards

Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

20.55 - 28.61
