Job Description: Director Workplace Investigations
This role is responsible for leading and developing the Workplace Investigations Team. The Director Workplace Investigations will supervise, develop, and manage a team of investigators, conduct high-complexity workplace conduct investigations, and help continue to progress and strengthen the investigations program. This role will be a member of the Global Investigations Team, reporting to the Vice President, Global Investigations. The Director will partner closely with Human Resources, the Law Department, Ethics and Compliance, Labor Relations, and business and operations partners.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and develop a workplace investigations team that supports leadership at an organizational level by driving the company’s values and behaviors.Manage a team of investigators to help develop their investigations and leadership skills. Train and mentor investigators on workplace investigations processes and best practices in sensitive and complex investigations, including interview techniques, evidence gathering, writing investigation summaries, and communicating findings to stakeholders.Oversee all investigations conducted on the team to ensure consistency in investigations and outcomes.Lead high-complexity and sensitive investigations from start to finish, including conducting interviews, reviewing data and documents, preparing reports, consulting attorneys, and engaging with the business.Oversee and personally investigate policy violations, complex EEO matters, wage and hour issues, and other employment-related matters. Coordinate with the Law Department’s Labor and Employment and Litigation teams as needed.Collaborate with and influence key stakeholders, including Human Resources, the Law Department, Labor Relations, Ethics and Compliance, and key business and operations partners.Lead and drive work to find efficiencies within the team; develop standardized processes and investigative practices and SLAs and KPIs to measure effectiveness and efficiency.Assess existing utilization of investigatory methods, processes and procedures for adequacy and related policies for regulatory compliance. Recommend enhancements or modifications, as required.Provide training and consultation to corresponding parties to reduce future complaints and liability.May be required to participate in depositions, court trials, arbitration hearings, and government agency hearings.Promote the professional growth and expertise of staff through ongoing training, coaching, and capability development.Support departmental management in driving strategic direction for the team.Identify useful insights that can be shared with stakeholders to improve processes, build business solutions, and mitigate risks.Leverage a consistent framework to recommend action outcomes.Foster a culture of trust, values, respect, and accountability within the team.Experience required:
Extensive workplace investigations experienceExperience as a people manager requiredEffective communication skills and the ability to influence and demonstrate empathyUnquestioned integrity and ethicsObjective and creative problem solverAbility to influence key partners at the same or higher levelsProven ability to be a partner and trusted advisor to key stakeholdersExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to coach and mentor junior team membersQualifications:
7+ years of experience with a focus in Human Resources, Employee Relations or Workplace Investigations required.Education
Bachelor’s Degree and JD or Master’s Degree in applicable field - such as Human Resources, Law, or ComplianceCertification in Human Resources, Employee Relations or Workplace Investigations PreferredRelocation Assistance Eligible:
