UKG is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of User Experience to team in India and drive the vision, strategy, and execution of our product design initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in user-centered design, a passion for innovation, and a proven track record of delivering exceptional user experiences.Key Responsibilities:
• Customer Advocacy: Advocate for customers by imparting strategic design leadership that fosters a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business, and technology needs.
• Design Quality: Raise the bar on design quality, end-to-end processes, and deliverables. Focus on overarching portfolio strategy, negotiating priorities, and create scalable systems that enable the federation of design work.
• Cross-functional Alignment: Drive the conversation with product and engineering peers to align on customer problems and product vision. Negotiate solutions balancing customer desirability, business viability and tech feasibility
• Navigating Ambiguity: Work proactively through the ambiguity of understanding customer needs, defining new products, and applying new technologies. Bring structure to uncertainty and ensure resulting experiences are simple, clear, and compelling.
• Innovation Leadership: Stay on the cutting edge of new technology, AI, and UX. Lead the team to experiment with new promising tech and interaction patterns.
• Stakeholder Relationships: Maintain healthy relationships with partners and stakeholders globally. Prioritize based on customer need, not internal interests. Exhibit excellent judgment and resolve challenging issues to move the product forward.
• Team Development: Invest heavily in the development and growth of a diverse team of design leaders. Create a culture of inclusion and creativity.
Qualifications:
• 15+ years of experience in product design, with at least 5 years in leadership/mentorship roles.
• Deep expertise in user experience (UX) design, user interface (UI) design, interaction design, and information architecture.
• Proven track record of leading successful product design initiatives and delivering impactful user experiences.
• Strong understanding of design thinking, user-centered design principles, and design systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field is highly preferred.
• Experience presenting to and effectively advising senior leaders outside of design.
• Experience embedding design within product teams for agile design and development collaboration.
• Portfolio of work led and shipped by teams in B2B or B2C services space.
• Strong discipline in the use and positioning of AI technologies
• Comfort with the ambiguity that comes with building new products from zero to mature adoption
• Experience working with globally distributed teams
