**General Summary**
Is responsible for ensuring all Trauma Center verification standards are met as required by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) Standards. Is responsible for complete operational function, program assessment, planning, organizing, implementation, performance improvement, education and marketing/communications. This position will function in a leadership position with responsibility for York Hospital Level-1 Trauma Center. In addition to operational responsibilities, is responsible for compliance and maintenance of the standards of care of the trauma patient as set by state, federal, regulatory and accrediting agencies. Maintains an effective relationship with the Trauma Program Medical Director.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Survey Readiness: Provides education and preparation of the hospital staff regarding PTSF guidelines for verification and re-verification utilizing the most recent edition of PTSF Accreditation Standards.
+ Clinical Activities: In partnership with hospital teams, coordinates management across the continuum of trauma care, which includes the planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring care of in-hospital patients and serving as a resource for clinical practice.
+ Education Responsibilities: Provides for interfacility and regional professional staff development, participates in case review, implements practice guidelines, and directs community trauma education and prevention programs. Organizes and participates in conferences related to health care of the trauma patient.
+ Performance Improvement: Monitors clinical processes, outcomes and system issues related to the quality of care provided: develops quality filters, audits, and case reviews: identifies trends, sentinel events and helps outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.
+ Administration: Manages, as appropriate, the operational, personnel and financial aspects of the trauma program. Serves as a liaison to administration and represents the trauma program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care.
+ Trauma Registry: Supervises collection, coding, scoring, and developing processes for validation of data. Designs the registry to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports, and research while protecting confidentiality.
+ Consultant/Liaison: Stabilizes the complex network of the many disciplines that work in concert to provide high-quality care. Serves as an internal resource for staff in all departments.
+ Research: Has an active involvement in research projects and the analysis and distribution of findings. Facilitates protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback and analysis.
+ Community and National Involvement in Trauma Care Systems: Participates in the development of trauma care systems at the community, state, or national level.
+ Management: Conducts regular meetings with direct reports to set expectations consistent with the goals of the organization and the department. Schedules work, ensures adequate staffing, and evaluates performance in relation to the department objectives and established standards. Applies policies in a consistent, fair and equitable manner. Achieves results through subordinates. Successfully recruits, interviews, selects and trains staff to build a cohesive and effective team.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Education:**
+ Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration or related field Required
**Work Experience:**
+ 3 years clinical nursing experience in Trauma, Emergency Department, ICU or other critical care areas. With advanced Certification STN-ATCN Required
+ 2 years management experience or programmatic development Preferred
+ 3 years of experience in coordination of multiple phases of care and multiple level/group of personnel Preferred
**Licenses:**
+ Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
+ Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required and
+ Heartsaver CPR/AED Upon Hire Required
**Courses and Training:**
+ Sixteen (16) hours of trauma-related continuing education annually where 50% of the required educational hours must be external and 50% of the external hours may be met by visiting professors and invited speakers. Upon Hire Required
+ Participation in the STN-TOPIC Course (or equivalent PI course) within one year of hire. *(TPMs in the role prior to October 1, 2016 must participate in a TOPIC course (or equivalent PI Course)). within 1 year Required
+ Level I: Participate in multidisciplinary trauma research. Upon Hire Required

More than 700 physicians and other professionals are members of WellSpan York Hospital's medical and dental staff.
WellSpan York Hospital in embarking on a significant five-year project. The centerpiece will be a new, eight-story surgical and critical care tower, which will dramatically expand the hospital's intensive care unit as well as develop new state of-the-art surgical suites, making it one of the top 10 largest hospitals in Pennsylvania with approximately 600 beds.
