Director Software Engineering

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Director of Software Engineering (Offshore) will lead the global engineering team responsible for building Pediatric Associates’ AI-first applications. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines architecture oversight, coding, and agile team leadership to deliver scalable, cost-effective digital solutions. The Director ensures PA reduces vendor dependency and retains IP while accelerating delivery speed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Build and lead an offshore engineering capability (mix of FTEs and partners) to deliver enterprise-scale applications. Partner with Product Management and Data Science to develop AI-native applications for clinicians and patients. Establish engineering best practices: CI/CD, test automation, code quality, and cloud-native deployments. Drive architectural decisions (microservices, APIs, security, scalability). Ensure cost-efficient delivery while maintaining quality and reliability. Act as a hands-on leader — capable of coding, reviewing, and mentoring. Align mobile platforms with organizational priorities to improve patient engagement, provider efficiency, and enterprise growth.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead strategy, design, and execution of all mobile applications and digital tools across iOS, Android, and cross-platform environments to support patients, families, and clinicians. Oversee end-to-end development lifecycle—including architecture, security, integration with EMR/clinical systems, and user experience—ensuring performance, scalability, and compliance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Health care, User Experience, Human Center Design or relevant area preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

10+ years in software engineering with 3+ years in offshore team leadership required. Strong track record of delivering high-velocity, cost-effective software teams.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Deep expertise in building AI/ML-enabled applications and API-first architectures. Skilled in modern cloud tech stack (AWS/Azure/GCP, Kubernetes, microservices). Collaborates with data scientists, engineers, and product stakeholders to align technical feasibility with business value. Translates complex ML concepts into business outcomes, fostering trust and clarity across teams. Focuses on measurable impact—whether it’s model accuracy, latency, or user adoption. Uses KPIs and telemetry to guide product evolution and ensure continuous improvement. Advocates for ethical AI practices, including bias mitigation, model explainability, and data privacy. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and internal governance frameworks.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Non-patient facing. May be either full time remote/telework or rotate working in the office and remote/telework. If remote, this job must be U.S. based. Indoor work; professional office environment. Operating computer. Reach outward. Limited travel for leadership meetings and team planning.
