Description:

American Express offers card payment programs and merchant solutions in B2B space to small businesses, mid-sized companies and large corporations.This position is responsible for leading B2B strategy as enterprise to maximize American Express’s market share and increase charge volume and revenue in B2B by evolving exisitng business model as well as creating new B2B business modal incluign fintech innovation. 

As our customers as suppliers and buyers are focusing on operational effiency, we need to evolve flexible B2B payment constructs and payment solutions that seamlessly coordinate into customer ecosystems. Many compepitors coming into the market and expanding in volume of inovoice payment over the last few years. To keep our strong position in B2B, we have to work on providing payment solutions inlcuding digital invoicing process and financing, require attention on building roadmap prioritization and planning for execution. 

As such, the Director, B2B Strategy and Partnership Development, will enhance the merchant value and shape the strategic vision for our next generation of B2B payment, partnering closely with teams across Issures and GMNS to deliver meaningful value to the clients and suppliers across our B2B network. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build comprehensive Japan B2B Strategy to maximize B2B charge volume and revenue by leveraging exisitng business scheme, new business model and innovations.

2. Identify opportunities to capitalize business strategies and innovations with external partnerships such as payfacs and fintech, priorilize and develop go to market plan, and execute.

3. Develop strong relationship with extrnal partners to maximize B2B model with an appropriate operation in lign with merchant policies and the process of Third Party Management.

4. Expand and enhance AX value for B2B merchant for new acquisition as well as maintain premium rate at exising merchants, improve NPS working with sales team.

5. Deeply partner with internal stakeholders such as GMS Risk, Pricing, Compliance, GCO, ICS Sales, ICS Product and Marketing to address complex contractual matters and business needs.

6. Build the annual business and financial plan working with supervisor, planning team and sales director.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Multiple years of proven success in business strategy building, business development or related fields.

2. Out of Box thinking with analitical approach thgourh market trend, customer needs, external data and information to build the strategy and identify AX opportunity in addressing ambiguity in fast-paced environments.

3. Results-oriented mindset with a strong leadership for the execution to go to the market.

4. Excellence negotiation skills to build the partnership with good financials.

5. Demonstrated ability to strong influence key internal and external stakeholders and execute strategies and projects to expand Blue Box businesses timely manner.

6.  Demonstrate AXP value by him/herself to lead the team in right way. 

7. Native proficiency in Japanese and professional working proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Extensive work experience for acquring business in commercial payment and B2B space.

2. Deep understanding of B2B business flow, operation, process, customer needs and competitor’s movement.

3. Several years of people management experience to manage the team efficiently.
