Job Summary
The Director Portfolio & Project Management provides leadership to the portfolio and project management team in support of strategic IT improvement efforts. This includes coaching, counseling, making work assignments, supervising work quality, and developing team members. The role supports the department and the entire organization in all aspects of performance improvement, including education, application of tools, methods, data collection, analysis, project facilitation, project management, developing advisors, and general leadership development in areas related to change management. In addition, the Director is expected to pursue their work with a high level of energy and push self and others for timely delivery, as well as Identifying, analyzing, and managing portfolio risks, providing expert risk management guidance to the Project Management team. As a Novant Health leader, the Portfolio and Project Management Director is accountable for guiding the team and individuals to successful outcomes. The Director Portfolio and Project Management is expected to be highly autonomous and be able to manage, delegate, prioritize, and make resource assignments with limited guidance.

Qualifications
+ Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Graduate Degree, required. Master’s degree or plan to complete Master’s degree, required.
+ Experience:
+ 10+ years of Performance improvement related role experience, required.
+ Healthcare experience, preferred.
+ Supervisory experience, required.
+ Licensure/Certification:
+ Project Management Professional (PMP), required.
+ OR Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), required.
+ Additional Skills Required:
+ Leadership Skills
+ Understanding of art and science of leadership/management.
+ Ability and willingness to provide timely and effective feedback.
+ Comfort level and willingness to delegate and manage resources to complete work of department.
+ Skill in identifying synergies and interdependencies to more effectively utilize resources.
+ Strategic vision to identify and support creation of tools, structures, methodologies, and development programs for growth of department.
+ Technical Skills
+ Ability to analyze, evaluate, and recommend improvements to core and support processes in healthcare settings.
+ Ability with selecting, creating, interpreting and teaching data display/analysis techniques and statistical process control tools (i.e., Pareto chart, Histogram, Run chart, Control charts).
+ Ability to create, interpret, and teach logic and process analysis tools (i.e., Flowcharts, Cause and Effect, Root Cause Analysis).
+ Ability to select, use, and teach idea generating and decision making tools (i.e., Brainstorming, Multi-Vote, Rank Order, Decision Matrix, Relations Diagram, Change Concepts).
+ Ability to apply techniques of Lean Sigma, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, data collection and analysis, ARCIE models and action plans.
+ Strong project management skills (i.e. Gantt charts, prioritization, critical path).
+ Other
+ Ability to coach and mentor others.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Flexibility

+ Willingness to maintain professional certifications and development opportunities.·
+ Additional Skills Preferred:
