The role youll contribute:

The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the strategic and clinical execution of pharmacy business plans and oversight across various healthcare facilities. This role entails primary responsibility for program management in assigned pharmacy practice areas, including financial performance, budgetary adherence, and customer services to both inpatient and outpatient care areas. The Director leads personnel, financial, operational, clinical, and technical resources within the Department of Pharmacy to ensure medication use is safe, cost-effective, and aligned with evidence-based best practices and regulatory standards. This includes coordinating program development, implementing policies and procedures, operational efficiencies, quality improvement activities, and process improvement interventions. The Director oversees pharmacy distributive services, drug utilization initiatives, clinical pharmacy programs, pharmacy information systems, advances medication safety, and ensures regulatory compliance across all applicable standards. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Director is also responsible for operational management, including workflow, departmental productivity, supply levels, equipment maintenance, and budget. The Director ensures all operations comply with hospital and external regulatory agency standards, adjusting staffing levels as needed, and acts as a liaison, fostering relationships with other hospital departments, the medical staff, nursing services, and ensuring departmental processes are coordinated efficiently. The role involves the procurement, storage, preparation, dispensing, documentation, control, and development of usage guidelines for all drugs, while adhering to legal, accreditation, and certification requirements. The Director is accountable for the quality of services, human resource management, and integrates the organization's vision, values, and strategic plan through an accountable team. As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Director collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide a safe healing environment for patients and customers, ensuring department safety, quality, and fiscal outcomes are achieved through appropriate staffing and departmental processes. Additionally, the Director participates in planning, revenue analysis, budgeting, education, human resources activities, and may be involved in webinars and presentations related to pharmaceutical services management, including the 340B program.

Interpersonal skills are required to interact regularly with pharmacy, medical, nursing, and administrative staff.

Assist in development and monitoring of budgets

Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure, policies, and staffing to effectively accomplish the departments goals and objectives; recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.

Plans and implements a QI program which complies with accreditation statutes.

Ensures the security of all DEA (controlled) medications within the pharmacy and facility.

Ensures regulatory compliance related to medication purchasing

Oversees the acquisition and disbursement of drugs and medications to various floors, clinics, and other sites.

Prepares, reviews and presents quarterly statistical and financial reports. Develops plan of action to address any problems. Design and implement new and enhanced pharmacy programs, process improvement changes, and continuous quality assurance initiatives to advance medication-use systems and promote optimal patient outcomes.

The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed :

Minimum qualifications :

Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy with a Bachelor's degree

Must have a minimum of five years of acute care hospital pharmacy leadership experience

Must possess a Texas Pharmacist license in good standing.
