Director - Payroll
As the Director - Payroll, you will lead the payroll team and manage all aspects of the payroll function. You will be responsible for establishing policies, procedures, and systems to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely processing of payrolls while ensuring effective process controls and compliance with company policies and regulations. You will lead the payroll team in providing high-quality service to the organization and exceptional experience for employees. **Responsibilities:** + Lead the payroll team in effective and efficient management of the payroll function. Lead the continuous evolution of the payroll team’s practices to leverage industry-leading practices and technology. + Develop a high-performing payroll team by devising and deploying effective efforts to recruit, hire, engage the payroll team members, and manage employee performance. + Develop strategy to ensure the payroll function’s short and long-term success. Propose and implement management plan to deliver on strategy – including annual goal planning, team’s organization structure, budget, vendor partnerships, deployment of technology, etc. + Develop policies and procedures payroll function to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Requires expertise and continuous research on regulatory changes and leading practices. Must ensure the team’s execution on related procedures. + Ensure the team’s adherence to defined payroll process and systems controls. Identify where controls should be updated and propose control changes. Ensure the team’s effective and timely response to audit requests. + Lead the team to deliver outstanding payroll-related service to employees. Design processes and systems-delivered services that provide clear, easy access to employee’s payroll information. Leverage HR service delivery resources and develop payroll-specific service delivery models to support employees’ payroll questions and issues. Create effective change readiness and communication plans regarding payroll processes and change initiatives. Use data to track issues, trends, and the team’s service delivery performance. + Manage relationships with and assess performance of payroll processing, service delivery, and technology vendors. Manage agreements and commercial terms with vendors. Establish project plans with vendors to deliver on key projects. Develop service level agreements and develop roadmaps with vendors to drive continuous improvement of the value derived from their services. Ensure vendors are accountable for effective support of day-to-day issues. + Collaborate with HR Systems team to establish processes to effectively maintain and configure payroll systems, develop reporting and analytics, maintain data quality and system integrations, etc. + Collaborate with various functions - Human Resources, Benefits, Finance, Tax, etc. - to streamline processes that ensure efficient & effective payroll processes. + Lead team’s approach to support enterprise initiatives. Assess and address complex projects and challenges. Develop plans to manage enterprise initiatives such as on-boarding newly acquired companies. + Implement and maintain robust procedures to ensure data privacy and security within the payroll department. Includes management of compliance with relevant regulations. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred + Minimum of 10 years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role + Experience in managing payroll for a large and complex international organization + Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations in the US, Canada, and other countries + Proficient in administration of payroll systems, such as UKG, ADP, Workday, SAP. UKG Pro experience highly preferred. + Proficient in administration of timekeeping systems, such as Kronos + Experience developing and managing process and systems controls. Experience working with internal and external audit teams + Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills + Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines + Ability to travel up to 25%
