The pay range is $131,000.00 - $236,000.00

A role in Financial Products & Services (FPS) means joining a high-impact team that designs and manages Target’s financial offerings—like Target Circle Card, Gift Cards, and Payments—to deliver intuitive, rewarding, and trusted experiences. You’ll drive transformation through innovation, digital engagement, and strong cross-functional collaboration, directly influencing enterprise strategy and Guest loyalty. From shaping strategy to managing P&Ls, your work helps position Target as a destination for simple, smart, and accessible financial solutions.

As the Director Payment Acceptance on the Financial Products & Services (FPS) team, you will lead the strategy and execution of Payment Acceptance across Target’s enterprise, spanning stores, digital, and third-party platforms. Your work will shape how millions of guests pay at Target; securely, seamlessly, and in ways that drive loyalty, reduce friction, and deliver enterprise value.

You will lead a team responsible for advancing Target’s payment architecture, managing complex vendor and network relationships, and unlocking innovation through initiatives such as orchestration layers, processor redundancy, and emerging payment methods. With a strong emphasis on cost optimization, compliance, and guest experience, you will develop and execute business cases that influence enterprise investments and long-term strategies.

This role requires an external mindset and natural curiosity about how payments are evolving across retail, technology, and regulatory landscapes. You will bring insight from competitive benchmarking and industry trends to ensure Target stays ahead of change. Internally, you will collaborate across a highly matrixed environment, partnering with Product, Digital, Loyalty, Legal, Compliance, Treasury, and Finance to align priorities, navigate complexity, and deliver results.

Blending commercial strategy, technical understanding, financial discipline, and trusted cross-functional leadership, you will play a key role in modernizing how Target accepts payments today while building for the future of commerce.

About you:  

Four Year degree preferably in Finance, Business, Technology, or a related field; or equivalent experienceMBA, CPA, or related advanced degree preferred10+ years of progressive business experience, with a strong preference for candidates with expertise in Payment Acceptance, Retail Financial Services, or Strategic Product ManagementProven track record of developing and executing strategies in highly matrixed, cross-functional environmentsExcellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of an organizationStrong analytical and critical thinking skills, with experience using data to drive financial, customer, and operational outcomesAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, project deadlines, and dynamic partner expectationsDemonstrated leadership capabilities, including experience leading and developing high-performing teams and coaching both direct and indirect reportsExternal curiosity and a forward-looking mindset, with a passion for industry trends, innovation, and guest-focused transformation.
