About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Director of Volunteer Services to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you’ll be a vital part of our administrative team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will d irect a dynamic volunteer service program and facilitate the ambitions of the Saratoga Hospital Guild in alignment with the goals and objectives of Saratoga Hospital. Additionally, this position is responsible for the Greeter program, ensuring the highest level of customer service and safety. You will provide direct supervision of the managers of Guild shops and collaborate with the manager/volunteer teams to maximize sales, customer satisfaction and community outreach. You will also manage the Language Line program to ensure access to interpreter services.
What You’ll Do
+ Guild Board Collaboration : Collaborates with the Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild, aligning their goals and ambitions with those of Saratoga Hospital. Serves as primary liaison between hospital leadership and the Guild Executive Board, providing support through active involvement in meetings, projects, programs and volunteer recognition. Assists Guild Board in establishing benchmarks for fundraising, service and outreach. Assist in reporting of Guild donations, hours and impact to the hospital leadership.
+ Volunteer Coordination: Develops, implements, and evaluates strategic plans for hospital volunteer program. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with volunteers, co-workers and the general public. Provides volunteer support throughout the organization as requested and evaluated as appropriate. Identifies volunteer support opportunities in collaboration with leaders and staff across the organization. Recruits, screens, interviews volunteer applicants to best meet the needs of the organization and the motivations of individual volunteers. Ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards as it relates to Volunteers. Tracks volunteer activities and participation and presents reports as required.
+ Department Operations: Responsible for annual budget development, tracking and monitoring. Takes corrective action when budget variances occur. Maintains accurate records of volunteer hours, assignments and demographics. Provides direct supervision of shop managers. Assists in ensuring effective management of retail shop expenses and operations. Provides leadership in the development of marketing and programming for the retail shops.
+ Greeter program: Responsible for oversight of the Greeter program. Provides direct supervision of greeters at the hospital information desks. Ensures highest level of service excellence and safety awareness.
+ Community Outreach : Promotes the Saratoga Hospital Volunteers and Guild through effective communication within the Hospital and the community at large to promote awareness and appreciation of volunteer efforts.
+ Language Line Program: Provides administrative oversight for the program including management of the budget, coordinate any required educatio n and re spond to any questions related to the program. Ensures program compliance with any applicable regulations and standards.
+ Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in alignment with Saratoga Hospital values
+ Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support health, healing, and service excellence
+ Perform administrative responsibilities with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency
+ Use hospital systems and tools to document care and support operations
+ Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and support patient and staff satisfaction
+ Serve as a positive, professional representative of our hospital and community
What You Bring
+ Minimum bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum 4 years volunteer activities experience in a leadership position in a fast paced, dynamic environment. CAVS certification preferred
+ Strong supervisory experience, excellent organizational skills. Able to multi-task with a commitment to service excellence. Must be able to relate to persons of all ages from diverse backgrounds, skills and abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be self-motivated and able to work without supervision. Ability to inspire and motivate, with a strong commitment to service excellence.
