JOB SUMMARY

The Executive Development and Succession Management Director oversees the planning and execution of UPS’s global executive development and succession strategy. This role requires close collaboration with internal and external executive development and learning resources, as well as HR leaders and senior management across the organization, to understand business needs and identify opportunities for enhancing executive talent development and succession planning. The position provides strategic guidance for the executive talent review process, manages the executive talent database and dashboard, and oversees executive development programs and supplier relationships to deliver best-in-class talent management practices.

LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:​

Designs and implements global, enterprise-wide, executive development strategies, including leadership programs, coaching, mentoring, and experiential learning to accelerate readiness of senior leaders.​Partners with internal learning teams and external providers to co-create and manage high-impact executive development offerings tailored to business and individual leader needs.​Develops and executes global talent pool and succession management strategies to ensure a strong and robust pipeline of executive talent aligned with future business needs.​Leverages HR and learning management systems along with best practices in executive development and succession management to drive consistency, quality, and strategic alignment across the organization.​Oversees the executive talent management database, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and usability to support succession planning and leadership development decisions.​Leads the development and delivery of data insights, reporting, and dashboards to track executive talent trends, development progress, succession health, and internal mobility opportunities.​Maintains and curates confidential reporting related to high-potential executives, ensuring timely updates and availability of insights.​Prepares executive-level materials (e.g., candidate bios, dashboards, presentations) for talent review meetings, and CEO and Board of Director Meetings.​Identifies and manages relationships with external partners (e.g., business schools, coaching firms) to deliver targeted development experiences for executive leaders.​Matches executives with appropriate development opportunities (e.g., programs, coaches, mentors, stretch roles) to maximize growth and organizational impact.​Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of executive development programs and coaching engagements, including ROI analysis and vendor performance reviews.​Manages the budget and vendor contracts for executive development and succession initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and fiscal discipline.​

Stakeholder Management Responsibilities​

Works closely with Talent Management, HRIS, and HRBP community to deliver world class talent excellence in executive development and succession management. ​Facilitates briefing sessions and training meetings as needed.​Communicates regularly with stakeholders to provide updates, insights, presentations, dashboards, and recommendation on executive talent.​

People Responsibilities​

Coaches and develops direct reports to foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement in executive talent practices.​Ensures alignment and integration across workstreams to deliver seamless execution of executive development and succession initiatives.​Serves as a subject matter expert and strategic advisor on Executive Development and Succession Management across the enterprise.

REQUIREMENTS:

10+ years of relevant experience with 5+ years of Talent Management experienceExperience designing, developing and supporting organization-wide talent programs that cover talent management, performance management, learning and development, coaching, succession planning, employee experience, HR compliance, and data analyticsStrong business acumen with demonstrated understanding of business strategyKnowledge of leading practices, external trends, principles, and methods across all talent disciplinesAbility to influence, partner, and develop productive relationships with senior leadership and other parties to achieve necessary strategic goalsHigh Proficiency in HR systems, dashboards, data and analytics, and briefing materialsDemonstrates success in championing changeAbility to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesBachelor’s degree or international equivalent (preferable in business or HR)
