Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a DIRECTOR OF STAFF - AIR, Position Description Number D2414000 and is part of the ANG HQ, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. **** Must have Wing Commander approval to fund the position with a Wing Resource. Confirmation must be annotated in applicants resume, cover letter or via another support document.*** Responsibilities As the DIRECTOR OF STAFF - AIR, GS-0301-14, you will serve as the principal advisor to the Adjutant General and/or Assistant Adjutant General for Air on a broad range of matters concerning the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: OFFICER, COL or LT COL with SDE (PME) complete GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Thorough knowledge and understanding of ANG and State National Guard goals and objectives, organizations, programs, missions, and functions to perform comprehensive analysis and studies is assigned areas of responsibility. Expert knowledge and mastery of a wide range of superior qualitative and quantitative analytical and evaluative methods and techniques for the assessment and improvement of State ANG effectiveness and efficiency, and the improvement of complex management processes and systems. Extensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of established goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key events and milestones, and how assigned programs are administered in order to select and apply appropriate analytical, evaluative, and measurement techniques. Skilled in the ability to understand, justify, and defend the requirements of the State ANG. Relocation costs are authorized subject to provisions of the Joint Travel Regulation and an agency determination that a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is in the Government's best interest. Superior Qualifications and Special Needs Pay-setting Authority may be considered for this position. TAG is the final approval authority for incentive programs (applicable to newly appointed federal employees or those with a 90-day break in service).
