Masters The Director of Sport Performance and Head Athletic Trainer oversees Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning within the Department of Athletics and Recreation at Bard College. The position will supervise two full-time Assistant Athletic Trainers and one part-time Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, and will be responsible for physical preparation and rehabilitation for all varsity student athletes, and for some instructional programming for the general student body.Coordinates and supervises medical coverage for all varsity team practice and home intercollegiate events, including direct supervision of several sports and hiring of per diem Athletic Trainers as needed
Organizes and facilitates all necessary documentation including to, but not limited to, injury reports, daily check in log, student-athlete travel and insurance records
Works with the college’s insurance administrator in assisting student-athletes with claims and necessary paperwork related to injuries as covered by the Bard College insurance plan. Develops a schedule for pre-participation physicals alongside appropriate medical professionals
Hires and supervises the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, and works with that position to design and implement strength and conditioning programs for 18 varsity intercollegiate programs for pre-season, in-season, and off-season periods
Schedules cardio and weight training spaces and sessions for varsity teams, club sports, and the broader Bard community
Manages and supervises all aspects of the athletic training facility, including; annual budget management and inventory, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of student staff, First Aid/CPR/AED certification for coaches and the maintenance of these records; inspection and maintenance of all modalities and athletic training facility equipment
Serves as Athletics and Recreation liaison to other campus offices including Health Services, Counseling Services, and Wellness, and attends select meetings of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and other campus committees as necessary
Fosters the existing relationships with the outside orthopedic and physical therapy groups, as well as the network of medical specialists
Oversees Bard College Student Athletic Training program participants and supervises individuals assigned to the College
Assists in organizing and conducting educational workshops for student-athletes on topics including (but not limited to) strength and conditioning, sleep habits, healthy eating, mental health, and maximizing athletic performance
Maintains appropriate documentation related to all operations of Sports Medicine to include the Emergency Action Plan, relevant sections of department handbooks and Sports Medicine Handbook. Prepares annual report based on logged injuries and evaluation of program
Attends an approved NATA or EATA conference
Other duties as assigned

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited athletic training or internship program, along with a Master's degree in a related field of Sports Medicine is required Five to ten years of experience as a collegiate athletic trainer is preferred NATA-BOC certification, New York State license and CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required. CSCS, PES, CES, Graston, ART, EMT certifications are preferred Excellent communication skills are necessary Knowledge of computer statistical software and internet skills required Flexible work schedule is required, to include evenings and weekends and occasional travel with teams Must have interest in supporting an environment in which students of all experience and ability levels and from diverse backgrounds are supported and encouraged
