A day in the life.

As a Director of Specialty Claims (Property)  you will:

Claims Management:

Proactively advocate claims from initial report of claim through resolution while effectively communicating with client and internal team members on the status of the claim. Mitigate client claim exposures through the strategic management of claims.Negotiate with adjusters on behalf of clients to have positive outcomes related to claims.Proficiently maintain agency management system data for accuracy.Perform other specific claims related duties as assigned.

Claims Expertise:

Be a subject matter expert in the marketplace; actively be present in the agency and the community with a focus on sharing claims knowledge and the impact of claims to a risk management program.Provide claims expertise/guidance to internal and external stakeholders for all technical and procedural inquiriesIdentify appropriate policies and/or coverage's on highly complex coverage issues and analyses notification against the same in order to provide solutions to clients against future risks.Lead highly complex claims process for clients, lead detailed client claim review meetings and participates in claims strategy discussions in order to ensure progress from notification through to closure.Implement continuous improvement strategies / processes / tools / systems to enhance efficiency for colleagues, agents, policyholders, and client.Develop thought leadership materials and drafts communication documents for clients, such as correspondence letters, claims calculations and reviews documents prepared by the clients in order to support highly complex claims process for clients.Asess application of data, such as loss statistics, key trends, cost reduction opportunities and other data in order to support sound and defensible recommendations for action plans to manage client's total cost of risk.

Claims Trending & Analysis:

Monitor trending within claims activity; communicate effectively with agency teams for awareness of any coverage issues or pending carrier issues.Remit claims related data such as loss statistics, key trends, cost reduction opportunities and other data in order to assist development of action plans to manage client's total cost of risk.Provide recommendations to the internal marketing, sales and service teams regarding trending coverage issues in a way to mitigate and further engage our clients in understanding the coverage available to enhance their risk management portfolio

 Leadership

Create an inspiring team environment that fosters growth and developmentIdentify technical skills and developmental needs and provide training as neededMonitor team performance and provide coaching as neededConduct performance reviews annuallyOversee day-to-day operations for designated direct reportsCollaborate with the SVP Regional Claims Director on the strategic vision of the claims team

Carrier Relationships:

Build strong carrier relationships with adjusters and other claims team members in an effort to form a partnership that supports both client needs and carrier objectives. Liaise with insurers and their advisors on highly complex queries and policy coverage discussions in order to support smooth review of claims for clients.Communicate effectively with carriers as issues arise and work toward resolving issues efficiently.Coordinate, conduct and participate in appropriate meetings to ensure proper activities are being performed to meet goals.Communicate with insurance carriers to develop special handling instructions for clients.

We’d love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:

Minimum 10+ years previous claims experience preferredMinimum of 3+ years management experience preferredMulti-line carrier or brokerage claims experience required.Strong ability to interpret policy language, provide quality management and technical oversight of highly complex claims issues.Demonstrated ability to play a critical leadership role in driving the implementation and change management for claims initiatives.Juris Doctorate or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related field preferred.Professional designations a plus.Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.Excellent analytical, project management and problem-solving skills.An ability to influence and negotiate with all stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that instills good working relationships with customers, clients, colleagues and management.Well organized, self-motivated, willingness to learn, attention to detail.Computer proficiency with system of records, web-based tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.Established priorities and organizes time efficiently to ensure meeting or exceeding deadlines.A shared commitment to company values; Integrity, Collaboration, Passion, Innovation, Accountability
