**_POSITION SUMMARY:_**
The Director of Space Planning is responsible for leading the strategic planning and execution of space utilization within our retail stores. This role will ensure that our retail environments are optimized to enhance customer experience, maximize sales, and reflect the brand’s values and aesthetic. The Director of Space Planning will work closely with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, store operations, marketing, and retail, to develop and implement space strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
**_ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:_**
+ Develop and implement comprehensive space planning strategies that support the company’s business objectives.
+ Lead the planning and optimization of store layouts, planograms, fixtures, and displays to enhance customer experience and drive sales.
+ Collaborate with merchandising teams to ensure product placement and visual merchandising align with strategic goals.
+ Oversee the creation and maintenance of floor plans, ensuring they are up-to-date and accurately reflect current inventory and merchandising plans.
+ Collaborate with business analytics and finance teams to gather data to distribute space and identify opportunities for improvement in space utilization.
+ Manage and mentor a team of space planners, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
+ Work with store operations and retail teams to plan and execute store remodels, relocations, and new store openings.
+ Ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and regulatory requirements related to store layouts and space planning.
+ Develop and manage the space planning budget, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints.
+ Utilize technology and software tools to enhance space planning processes and improve efficiency.
+ ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
**_EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:_**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Retail Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
+ Minimum of 10 years of experience in space planning, retail design, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
**_KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:_**
+ Proven experience in developing and implementing successful space planning strategies in a retail environment.
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and customer insights.
+ Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
+ Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a team.
+ Proficiency in space planning software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
+ A passion for the outdoors and alignment with Bass Pro Shops’ mission and values.
