Director of Security & Operation, Rising Up Men’s Shelter
Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in:  Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 73,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today. CAMBA operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility.  Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing. CAMBA’s Rising Up Men’s Shelter is a 141 bed men’s employment shelter located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. This shelter will provide an array of services with a strong focus on connections for residents to achieve stable employment to lead to permanent housing.  Position: Director of Security & Operation Reports To: Vice President            Location: 39 Ainslie Street Brooklyn, NY 11211 What The Director of Security & Operation Does: + Understand all aspects of contract requirements and effectively communicate these to + Collaborate with peers at other CAMBA shelters and external agencies on client progress and best practices. + Work with staff to set realistic weekly and monthly performance targets aligned with contract requirements. + Observe direct reporting staff interacting with clients and/or supervisory + Conduct periodic internal file reviews and implement Quality Assurance measures to ensure high- quality service delivery (e.g., addressing and investigating client complaints). + Assist the Program Manager in overseeing all aspects of the program in their + Prepare reports and statistical data for CAMBA management and funder + Assist in analyzing program and client demographic data to implement programmatic + Organize onsite and offsite training opportunities to support staff professional + Consult with the Program Manager, Program Director, and/or other CAMBA management staff on programmatic and personnel matters as + Plan and organize program activities to maximize the achievement of contract goals and performance targets as outlined in the DHS Performance Incentive + Troubleshoot program issues related to clients and direct reporting staff, making decisions in accordance with program policies and + Develop and implement crisis prevention and intervention strategies to maintain a safe and secure environment. + Provide assistance and follow-up on critical incidents involving + Develop, implement, and manage facility security and preventive maintenance + Oversee and ensure daily facility security and maintenance + Schedule, plan, and train security staff to ensure compliance with DHS + Oversee or ensure the timely completion of facility repairs, improvements, and + Maintain equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working + Ensure the provision of contractual services (e.g., extermination, fire safety system, HVAC) as + Ensure vehicles are properly maintained, including registration, insurance, inspections, + Ensure compliance with City and state regulations regarding sanitation, snow removal, sidewalk litter, and other relevant agencies (e.g., DHS, OTDA, FDNY, Callahan, Dept. of State). + Liaise with community leaders and groups to build connections, garner support, and address + Ensure staff use of electronic databases and oversee data + Conduct one-on-one supervision sessions with direct reporting staff to assess and improve work performance (e.g., identify training needs, support professional development). + Review and approve staff time + Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting + Attend staff, funder, or outside agency meetings as + Immediately report significant events, monitoring visits, or funder activities to the appropriate Vice President, including incidents that could expose CAMBA to + Complete incident reports and generate weekly and monthly + Facilitate interdepartmental communication and hold regular staff/departmental + Other duties as assigned Minimum Education/Experience Required: + High School Diploma with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree with three (3) years of Other Requirements: + Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. + Bilingual in any other language not required, but + Candidates selected for this position will be required to submit medical (TB) test results as part of the pre/post-employment health screening + Supervisory experience in a mid-sized organization (500+ employees), including experience managing teams. + Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent interpersonal + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant + Ability to balance shifting priorities while managing multiple tasks and Compensation: $70,000-$75,000 annually When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
