Director of Security

Compensation: $88,275 to $141,232 per year

Description Summary

The primary duty of the Director of Security has the responsibility for the day-to-day security force of the property to ensure the safety and security of all guests, personnel, and property. The Director of Security will lead the Security and Operations team to success and oversee the day-to-day operations and customer service initiatives of the Security Department including Security and Safety/Risk Management. The role includes risk and loss management of the property, as well as supporting in Workplace safety and life/fire safety systems, preventing situations that could jeopardize the safety and operation of the property. This role ensures that operations are staffed efficiently, ensures that security employees perform to established expectations, and promotes a safe environment for guests and employees.  All duties are performed within the company’s policies and procedures, and applicable gaming and state laws and Two Kings Casino.  Incumbent is to ensure and provide outstanding, friendly, and informative support to our internal and external while maintaining safety throughout the property. Works to ensure maximum Guest safety at all times. Responds and supports Security and Safety team to emergencies as needed.

Essential Functions:

Project an image of friendliness, professionalism, and willingness to provide personalized services to all guests, employees, and business partners, whether over the phone or in person. Direct the overall operations and staff of the Security department. Develop the Security Team through Training and one and one interactions. Specifically, the Security Manager, Shift Managers and Supervisors.  Ensures that scheduling is done in an effective and efficient manner, while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives and achieving guest satisfaction. Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs. Ensures customer service standards are followed by all team members and addresses issues as they arise. Responsible for the overall achievement of department customer service goals. Manages the Safety Committee, including keeping areas free of safety hazards, debris and litter and performing. Serve as liaison with gaming regulators, public law enforcement, fire, and other agencies as it relates to security. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to Executive Management Team. Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters. Manage operations of the employee entrance.  Ensuring bags are inspected for weapons or company property. Assist with control of deliveries, loading dock to facilitate an efficient working area. Ensure the Security department patrols entire building and grounds, noting and correcting safety, security, and fire hazards. Respond professionally in any emergency safety situation. Write comprehensive incident reports and conduct thorough investigations. Conducts, supervises, and prepares reports relating to investigations of any losses or violations of law, regulations, policies, or procedures. Assist with follow-up on investigations.  o Compiles information, completes and submits reports to authorized management or Accounting as required. Provide First Aid and CPR. Maintain certification for CPR and First Aid.  Contain items potentially contaminated in accordance with Blood Borne Pathogen protocols and training. Identifies and resolves security and safety related problems. Perform property evictions/exclusions as necessary with approval by management team. Exhibit sound decision-making with emphasis on motivating the team and maintaining high morale. Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies in an ethical manner. Manage the essential daily Supervisory duties to include Officer Schedules, Time and Attendance tracking, performance reviews and reporting or any other technical function required of Security Coordinator and Supervisors. Develops, implements, and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives. Develops, evaluates, enforces, reviews, and approves changes or revisions to operating practices, procedures and standards based on business trends and practices. Develops and implements alternative methods for security operation improvement. Assist with overseeing and responding to guest and employee emergencies and reported threats, document incidents and ensure proper escalation for reporting and resolution purposes. Protect the company’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Perform other job-related duties as assigned and/or requested by the Executive Team including but not limited to security supervisor, and security officer duties such casino roving, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Security/Law Enforcement/Leadership/Risk Management or Hospitality with an emphasis on Security; or Three-Five years previous experience as Casino Security Director, or five to seven years of casino Security Manager experience. Or Six – Eight years, military, or police leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience Previous Casino or Hospitality Field Experience required.   Must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Proven track record of strong leadership experience with team building experience.  Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word). Preferred experience with report writing software and incident reporting software.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, oversight board, customers, and the general public. Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner. Must be at least 21 years of age or older and be able to obtain Gaming License. Language Skills Strong written and verbal communications. Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge must be detailed oriented and motivated. Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to write in a clear and professional manner. Must have the ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Must have the ability to deal with problems in a calm and professional manner. Must operate effectively in a deadline-oriented and multi-task environment. Excellent critical thinking skills.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically capable of performing security related functions and training. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues. Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations. Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibration, crowds, and air quality may include secondhand smoke.

Additional Duties/Job Dimensions

Due to the cyclical nature of the casino industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with policies and procedures for the safe and efficient operation of company facilities. Employees who violate Company policies and procedures are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
