Job Family Definition:
Leads a large, multidisciplinary engineering organization within HPE’s Security Service Edge (SSE) business, focusing on the development of advanced cloud-native cybersecurity solutions. Oversees teams designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and operating highly scalable and secure systems and applications. Requires broad technical expertise across cloud architecture, high-performance computing, large-scale distributed systems, network security, and big data technologies.
Management Level Definition:
Leads a major functional area within the SSE business, fully accountable for its operational success, strategic execution, and technical innovation. Responsible for aligning organizational activities with business goals, shaping engineering practices, and influencing company-wide security and cloud strategies. Owns a significant portfolio of measurable outcomes, including product performance, customer experience, and operational efficiency. Advises executive leadership on strategic technology decisions and contributes directly to long-term business planning. Reports to VP of Engineering or equivalent executive leader.
Responsibilities:
Provide strategic and technical leadership for cloud-native cybersecurity solutions, with a focus on high performance, scalability, big data analytics, and resilient networking.Build and lead high-performing engineering teams, consisting of managers and senior individual contributors across multiple geographies.Set organizational goals aligned with business and technology roadmaps; define tactical execution plans and success metrics.Ensure the delivery of complex, secure, and scalable cloud applications and services with high availability and performance standards.Drive engineering excellence through modern software development practices, cloud DevOps, automation, and security-by-design methodologies.Collaborate closely with product management, program management, architecture, security teams, and customer success to ensure alignment on priorities and technical direction.Oversee vendor and outsourcing relationships, ensuring quality deliverables and strategic collaboration.Foster a culture of innovation, operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning across the organization.Identify and drive continuous improvement programs across engineering processes, system quality, and customer outcomes.Provide career development, coaching, and mentorship for the leadership team and broader engineering organization.Education and Experience Required:
First-level university degree or equivalent experience required; advanced technical degree preferred.Typically 15+ years of technology industry experience, including 10+ years leading large engineering organizations.Deep experience in cybersecurity, cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP), distributed systems, high-scale platforms, and/or big data environments.Knowledge and Skills:
Strong organizational leadership, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.Demonstrated ability to deliver highly scalable, secure, and performant cloud services.Deep technical expertise in areas such as networking, cloud computing, large-scale data processing, and/or security architecture.Strong business acumen and ability to align technical strategy with business objectives.Mastery in communication across diverse audiences (executives, technical teams, partners).Advanced prioritization and multi-tasking capabilities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Strong understanding of cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices in cloud-native environments.Ability to lead geographically distributed teams and manage complex program execution at scale.Impact/Scope:
Responsible for delivery of critical cybersecurity cloud services impacting HPE’s strategic SSE business growth.Regular interaction with Directors, VPs, and external key technology and security partners.Leads complex cross-organizational programs and transformation initiatives.Complexity:
