Employment Opportunity Director of Programs Job Description: VIA is seeking a full-time Director of Programs. This position is primarily responsible for the leadership and oversight of Workforce Development (WFD), Social Work (SCW), and Adapted Living Programs (ALP). The Director will manage daily operations, supervise staff, drive strategic growth of the programs, and serve as the primary point of contact for New York State Commission for the Blind (NYSCB) referrals related to ALP, Workforce Development, and Vision Rehabilitation services. Essential Functions: + Provide leadership, coaching, support and management to SCW, WFD and ALP staff. + Direct supervision of department associates including full-time, part-time and per diem associates. + Recruit, interview and hire individuals who demonstrate job competencies and VIA’s values. + Provide frequent and regular training and individual coaching sessions to build skills and create best practices to achieve annual goals. + Delegate tasks to ensure associates receive ongoing challenges to increase skills and competencies. + Measure performance as compared to standards on a frequent and regular basis. Recognize good performance and celebrate successes. Set clear goals for improved performance when necessary. + Establish quantitative and qualitative goals for programs based on agency goals and contractual obligations. + Conduct annual performance evaluations with associates including the identification of strengths, areas for development and the setting of goals. + Oversee spending, sign off on all check requests, supply orders, trainings and conferences. + Facilitate regular meetings with staff to review cases and have an ongoing knowledge and understanding of anticipated client outcomes. + Possess and maintain a strong knowledge and understanding of all NYSCB contracts. + Facilitate bi-monthly meetings with rehab and CBVH staff for case review for all consumers. + Oversee all aspects of the ALP portion of the NYSCB CSC including intake, case management and client contact when applicable. + Collaborate with Rehab for appropriate case assignment based on client need, maintain client documentation, monitor the progress of each case as compared to goals, and close cases upon satisfaction of needs. + Utilize strategic thinking to develop, improve and implement processes, programs and services that support the agency mission + Collaborate with marketing/outreach departments to create functional collateral and plans that assist with the overall promotion and awareness of the departments. + Provide support to SCW by providing either one-on-one or group services as needed.
