Director of Professional Development

Job Summary:

The Director of Professional Development is responsible for partnering with HaysMed and PVCH Directors, Executive Leaders, Human Resources, unit level leaders and other key stakeholders to develop and implement solutions that align with key business strategies and enhance leadership development and organizational performance. This position assesses, implements, and manages organizational development strategies, leadership development programs, non-clinical training programs and initiatives to improve overall organizational effectiveness, culture, and performance.

Job Requirements: 

Education/Experience: Masters of Science in Nursing required or Doctorate in Nursing or related field preferred.   Minimum of 5 years in hospital clinical experience with strong writing, editing and presentation skills required.  
 
Certificates and Licenses: Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Kansas; related supervisory experience preferred; BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification with in the first two weeks of employment; additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations.

Essential Functions:

Assists in prioritizing organizational efforts and resources towards the implementation of patient experience and leadership development activities that are critical to HaysMed’s mission, vision, culture, values, and strategic priorities.
Assists in integrating the leadership and associate competency models for selection, assessment, training and development, mentoring, and succession planning.
Assists in coordination of targeted development programs for new leaders.
Assists in monitoring the effectiveness of all development and training initiatives in relation to HaysMed’s quality and finance metrics.
Builds organizational capability through the implementation and execution of impactful leadership development interventions.
Develops strategic partnerships with the directors, executive team, human resources, and other internal associates to support leadership and organizational development programs.
Collaborates with the Infection Prevention Nurse to implement education initiatives on infection control practices across the organization.
Oversees and evaluates the progression of HaysMed’s RN Residency Program and other regional professional development programs that may be offered.
In conjunction with human resources, monitors development activities of succession candidates towards the goal of developing “ready-now” candidates for key positions.
Promote evidence-based practice and research in nursing practice and educational processes
Serve on shared governance councils and function as a liaison to all system departments and consultative resource for administration, nursing, non-nursing employees, physicians, and community
Promote nursing excellence, recognition, and empowerment through shared decision making and professional development of nurses
Work in collaboration with the Quality Department to collect, correlate, analyze and generate reports/for nursing sensitive indicators utilizing the NDNQI database
Prepare an operating budget and monitor/report the status of the budget on a monthly basis
Contribute to strategic initiatives through timely data management, analysis, and graphic display for driving actionable nursing and organizational outcomes

Primary – required (routine) to do the job;
Secondary – required for the job, but mostly be exception; and
None – no approved access

Financial Information/Insurance (information related to insurance, billing and payment): Billing Information, Payer Name, Payer ID, Account Balances, Plan Elements Covered, Payment Information, Payment Rates
