We’re hiring a Director of Technical Services to lead strategic technical operations at our Salina, KS facility. This role oversees Capital Engineering, Automation & Operational Technologies, and all Refrigeration, Utilities, and PSM functions across a large manufacturing campus. You'll drive innovation, efficiency, and long-term operational success.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with all human and food safety regulations, including OSHA, through proper training, use of PPE, and safe work practices.• Oversee the operation and maintenance of critical utility systems: refrigeration, boilers, compressed air, steam, wastewater, and environmental functions.• Lead capital engineering strategy, project prioritization, and execution of reliability and cost improvement initiatives.• Provide technical leadership in automation, including PLC/HMI programming, SCADA systems, MES, and data historian programs.• Manage power distribution, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems.• Direct annual capital budgeting, cost control, and performance reporting to senior leadership.• Guide and develop maintenance and technical teams, overseeing daily work and long-term planning.• Maintain strong relationships with external contractors, vendors, and engineering firms to support technical operations and capital projects.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 10+ years of technical and leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing.• Proven supervisory/managerial experience; experience with USDA/FDA-regulated environments strongly preferred.• Strong technical knowledge in electrical systems, hydraulics, ammonia/PSM, and PLC controls.• Certifications such as CMRP, Six Sigma, or Lean are preferred.• Skilled in interpreting technical documents, procedures, and regulations; able to write reports and present to diverse audiences.• Proficient in SAP, Outlook, Excel, Word; able to read and apply technical diagrams and mathematical instructions.• Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; effective under pressure and in diverse team settings.• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines while maintaining confidentiality and promoting continuous improvement.• Willingness to support operations across all shifts as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $132,750 to $221,250 annually with eligibility for a 25% annual incentive bonus, that is based on organizational performance. The pay range represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to educations, skills, work experience, certifications, geography etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
